Max In Africa - looks like the rumors were true

Post by Mad Max RW »

I don't know how the storyline of Fury Road can take place anywhere besides Australia. We saw a destroyed Sydney at the end of Thunderdome, so we know without a doubt Max is supposed to be in Australia. If there's any landmarks in the new movie they can't be from anywhere else on earth. It wouldn't make sense. I think it's impossible to travel long distances, especially over oceans, in such a post apocalyptic world. Not even Jedidiah's plane can get that far.

There's no reason to film a movie entirely in Australia if the story happens to take place there. Look at Escape from New York. About 75% of that movie was filmed anywhere else besides New York City. What I'm trying to say is don't get so worked up if they're using Africa or wherever for some of the scenes. Max is still in Australia, and you should be happy they're making Fury Road rather than bitching about something so stupid.

I like the idea that alot of oceans have dried up, i mean i know the pacific etc. are some bigarse oceans and would take more than probably 30 years to dry up, but why the hell not, its a movie.

why not have max wandering across ocean floors, giant 'deserts' with ships left where they stood (anyone seen those 'ship graveyards'in india and that, where they pull giant oil tankers across the world dump them there where they under go 'ship breaking' pull them to pieces for scrap? i've got alot of pictures of them, its some really creepy sh*t), max could be walking amongst them and there could be water too, cause you know how you get canyons and cliffs under oceans. well they could still be filled with water, making lakes and rivers (in otherwords something to drink, cause aside from THUNDERDOME apparently noone needs water in the MAD MAX's). and thats how max can cross oceans to get to other countries, giant pilgrimages across land.

Steel Dawn has a cool scene where he is wandering through a dried up ocean and you see an ancient oil tanker. Very cool. It would be impossible in Fury Road, though.

TANK GIRL and i think ESCAPE FROM LA have them too. I don't see how they'd be impossible dude, what if theres a bridge that the vehicles go over, there could be one under that.

OK, we saw there was plenty of water left in Mad Max. If all the oceans dried up in the amount of time it takes to reach Fury Road then something major would have to happen. Like the earth crashing into the sun.

I'd imagine the sea levels would actually rise significantly because by this time (according to the Mad Max series) the poles are probably melted almost completely away.

Realistically there's no way the oceans can dry up in under 10000 years. Steel Dawn took place several hundred years in the future or more. Escape from LA had lots of water. It's not even a good example.

Hey Guys

In the paper today on March 1 The Daily Telegraph there is a small article about mad max and it says that Robert Downey Jnr is in negotiation to star along Mel Gibson. Its ONLY A RUMOR but bloody hell Its an AUSTRALIAN movie. Should have REAL Aussies in it not Yanks putting a "Put another shrimp on the barby" accent! I am well aware that Mel Gibson is american but he did grow up here after all!

Have you seen a Mel Gibson movie lately? He lost the accent years ago. And if Robert Downey Jr. is in Fury Road who said he has to be Australian?

MAD MAX is a classic Australian movie.. If they fill it with non aussies whats the point of calling it mad max? I would rather see mel gibson cast with Australians.
