Some FLUBS i noticed on the MADMAX DVD

Post by v8interceptor »

Hi,

The guy on ebay says that the DVD is an import from Europe isn't it? well, the DVD is Region1 but Europe is Region2... Image? Here in Europe exist the cut version but not with a collector's edition cover, and the cut scenes are not replaced with other difference scenes. I've never seen the "Lost Version" in DVD format.

Thanks Doug. I doubt any official distributors will stock this though, you need to find the type of places that normally deal in bootlegs. If we can't find it I'll probably grab one from eBay eventually too (providing the quality is good enough), although it would be good to get it cheaper. Unless this guy is making the discs himself, they must be out there.

Hi I posted this onto another section of the board, but after reading what "Wrinkles" says on September 11 it sems to fit better here.

The flubs don't bother me, I found it interesting to see all the camera gear in the back of the Interceptor, and the "False" interceptor with out the roof spoiler on , the black coupe that pass's by the Truck that split second after the Toecutter went under.

Anyhow........

I had a very quick look at the Australian Mad Max release on the weekend, I did not have the time to watch the film, but I did look through some of the attached material.

Quite amazing.. I was very disappointed to find that it looked more like the text from a bar room discussion than a "FACT" file. True.. it read like a bunch of ill informed ideas being discussed at the pub on a Saturday afternoon. For instance Max's yellow interceptor was a XB 351 GT Coupe. With Fairmont front end added no less.. Hmmmmm..

And all the cop cars were ex-police cars...

As Grant said.. I now doubt every single thing that I will read on this DVD.

And the link sites look like they just had a quick look at a search engine and picked a couple at random .. unbelievably one of the premier movie sites on the internet, a site that stands up against any fan site on any film at all.. yes.. madmaxmovies.com does not get listed but Dan the man Vs mad max does .. Go figure?

They (Roadshow) even quote the MGM site madmaxthemovie.com

What a shame.. all the information in the world is out there now, stuff unknown just a few years ago is common knowledge now.

What the hell is wrong with these people, Have they really spent quite a bit of time with the (money making) commercial "release" of the DVD in OZ. But about 5 minutes on the extra "features".

Clowns.. Gosh Steve Bisley, and almost everyone else is still around. What are the issues.. well money I suppose, but it looks like Laziness, and contempt for the DVD buying public.

Why can't they manage to get Steve Bisley to sit in a replica of the Yellow Interceptor ... hell Scott Smith has one and he would be just down the road, I don't think Scott would be asking a cent for as loan of any car. If Scott were to let anyone sit in it or drive it Steve Bisley would have to be one such person.

What is the problem? ... Why so hard to put Steve Bisley into a yellow Interceptor replica so he could and recall some memories, or visit a location or two. What a great addition to any DVD, (hell it is a DVD in it's self) Roadshow could pay Bisley $$$ as they would sell a ton of the DVD's into the USA cult scene as well.

Why the hell can I sit at a desk and have more ideas in 5 minutes than Roadshow had in 25 years they have had to prepare this.!

On the up side I understand the picture and sound are very good, I expect that a different department handled that.

(sorry Peter I did not try and freeze frame)

As I have not seen the film I am admittedly commenting on just this one section .. Plus of course I have been watching the USA and Japanese versions for ages, so the OZ DVD was not something that I was hanging out for. But I do understand that many people will just be so happy to finally get it on DVD, and rightly so, fair enough.

It just seems annoying to me that they had the chance and the time to actually break some ground with this ... and they missed it..

Gordon
cheers

ImageWhat disappoints me about MM1 release is the cut scenes have not been restored. Im also amused at the "effeminate" nature of the REAL voices of the Aus actors. Tough biker gang huh? Umm, sure doesnt sound like it. HOWEVER, the SOUND of the V8 is BEAUTIFUL! I esp love the "idle" scene in Maxs yellow car.
Any damage Goose? Nothing a year in the tropics wouldnt fix. You should see the damage Bronze. Metal damage, brain damage, I AM the NIGHT RIDAHH!!! A fuel injected suiCIDE masheen!

Also on the MM Special Edition DVD there seems to be an extra whine in the interceptors' engine, just after as Barry "kicks it in the guts". Am I right? And if so, is it a compression leak, or is that the way the V-8 actually sounds? It sounds awesome either way.

And to roadwarriormfp - In response to your inquiry from Sept. 11, I think that's a helmet on the back shelf. Just like the one in Maxs' yellow interceptor in the beginning. But I'll take another look, 'cause it freaked me out when I saw it in the yellow one.

The US Bloke .... Um.. sorry you got me mistaken for someone else i think...

A few more things i noticed in the DVD.... was that if you listen carefully to Big Boppers car after he hits the sign when he tells March Hare to keep going.. you can actually hear the wirring noise of the rotating beacon!

And also when you get the close up of Max's exhaust pipe as he starts up to pursue the NightRider... watch the screen carefully.. you see it mist up slighty from the tail pipe condensation!

We are 100% snafu....
