Re: MM1 Original Script Question
I never said the game was canonical. I said it fleshed out the Fury Road world. Either Miller worked closely with the game's producers, or they had both deep respect for the franchise and access to Miller's notes, because they created a robust ecosystem that plausibly gave us an idea of what might have come before the events in Fury Road, and what communities and people might have been lurking just off-camera.

Roop is my all-time fave, so I was just excited to see him get mentioned. Even if it was just one line and a vague doodle of him using a stick to beat the snot out of someone, haha. That said, it would've been nice to have some more context about their appearance in the comics. Based on what we've been presented, the former MFP guys do seem like predators, though I'd like to think there's more to the situation. Perhaps there was an ongoing conflict between the ex-MFP officers and the People Eater's group, rather than the attack being purely one-sided and malicious. Then again, Roop has never been the nicest fella to begin with, so who knows?I hate that Charlie and Roop become straight-up evil, cowardly predators in the comic book. I wish Miller and company had found a better way to provide a cameo of those two.

Regardless, that's just my thoughts on the matter. Wildly speculating about Roop's personality, backstory, and motives... That's my idea of a fun time!

Re: MM1 Original Script Question
Hi guys. I am very glad that there is such a topic. I have long been interested in the details of this huge script, I was very surprised when I learned that the script of the film that goes 90 minutes has 214 pages, I immediately realized that they shot only half, since I read a lot of different scenarios and therefore know that an hour and a half film usually has about 120 pages. At the same time I was perplexed that there could be at least another 100 pages, because the film seemed to me a full-fledged work.
I read the articles from 1978 by Mad Max co-writer James McCausland who was financial journalist at the time, he is also an economist and in these articles surveyed the petroleum industry and the automotive industry. He also wrote about peak oil in 2006 The Courier-Mail's article and said he reflected all these themes in the script. But as we know in the movie nothing is said about the oil collapse and there are no gasoline hunters. The scene with bikers and oil tank doesn't really say anything. So I think there were all these things in the script, but because of the problems on the set and the low budget, it was embodied only in the sequel.
Also early press on the film production make it clear that the script has crazy tow truck drivers and young men on fast muscule cars.
Could anyone briefly list the unproduced storylines from the script please?

Re: MM1 Original Script Question
There's a lot but my fav is a scene where Sprog plays with Max's gun and eats the bullets. Then the whole gang, Max, Jessie, Goose and his girlfriend gather up and set up a pot and sit Sprog on it waiting for him to shit the bullets out.
And he does. What's left of it in the movie? Sprog playing with Max's gun and that's it.
There was also a scene that was actually filmed where Goose stops by a girl with a broken down car on the side of the road. They have sex and Goose goes on his way.

Could you tell if there are car chases not included in the film? Or maybe Armalite Gangs or something like this? I heard that the novelization featured gangs that attack the drivers of road trains on the transcon one.

Re: MM1 Original Script Question
Get the novels. They are based on the original scripts being written before or during filming,
All that is in there, extras and alternate ending for mm2 etc.

Re: MM1 Original Script Question
There was nothing in the novel about Sprog eating bullets or pooping. Thank God.
I did find it quite odd that the opening chase scene began with Max swimming naked in a lake before joining the chase. What an odd thing to include.

Re: MM1 Original Script Question
I listened to audiobook on YouTube, there are many scenes which are not appear in the film, but also there are no scenes which appear in the film. It's not like the narrative is twice as big, I think the book based on earlier script.
I wonder if they had a plan for the sequel about MFP, before they started working on Mad Max 2 as it is in december 1980. I guess the idea was, but Miller probably wasn't going to make that movie as director.
And yes, I love Roop too, and it seems he reflects the aussie motor madness better than anyone else, and Max is afraid to be like him))
