Fan-canon stuff (or "headcanon") really pisses me off. It's so bloody disrespectful to the people who made the film. And it's always focused on humanising the War Boys or filling in imaginary backstory for Furiosa and the Citadel, or interpreting the Fury Road world from a teenage girl's perspective. "OMG Nux is so cute, let's write fan-fiction about how he is secretly in love with Slit". Urgh. Can't people just enjoy something for what it is without promoting their own imaginary ideas?

I haven't talked to Peter in a while now but I reckon he's just busy with real life things. As for the whole situation, I've talked about it with tehCal and we agree that we need to pull ourselves together and thoroughly update all the info and put it into one place. Ideally this site would be that place because it's been around for over 2 decades now, but it would need a complete redesign or at least major expansion. For now the best place for all the info is the Mad Max Wiki, which I'm the admin of, but it takes much more work than it seems to make it work properly.

The thing about Wiki is that by design it's open for everyone, but that's also its curse. Over time I've progressively started to lock it down because nobody really had any interesting info to add, there was vandalism and lack of understanding how it works. Especially after Fury Road and the game came out a whole lot of people came in and started to add complete nonsense to pages, they confused movies with the game, pages were changed to be more SJW'y etc. The comments were filled with headcanon bullshit, you can forget about anyone really providing any kind of references. And at the time I only knew a few people that had access to actual information and resources to make the Wiki a legitimate source so I ended up writing 99% of vehicle pages myself, some character pages, the timeline pages etc. Essentially everything that's expanded on that page is either the work of me or Mad Max Wiki's founder - Benxander. But as it turns out, there was demand for this info and I saw plenty of YT videos and heard lots of podcasts referencing the stuff we've written there. The thing is - we really need legitimate fans to do the work and provide sources. The reason why the Mad Max Wiki gets quoted in the first place are the sources so we absolutely need them. And we need less of filler, theories, fanart, and all that crap - that place can easily stay on the Mad Max subreddit or FB groups.

Like I said - I'd love for madmaxmovies.com to be the ultimate Mad Max resource but a lot of the info here is outdated and the format of the front page does not exactly allow for expanding at the moment, let alone all the work that would have to be put into that. As for the forums and lack of activity here - I'm honestly fine with that. If you've been following other places where Mad Max is discussed - they're mostly filled with nonsense and I don't think any of us would want this place to turn into that. In fact, mmmovies.com has a reputation for providing actual information on vehicles, it gathers car builders, hardcore fans & model makers. Needless to say, theories of the Feral Kid being Max or Max being a fallen Angel or some shit didn't originate from this forum. I say let's keep it that way.

The fluff is part of modern fandoms, c'est la vie ... if it's felt that mmm.com isn't cutting it then those who feel strongly could pool resources and launch something new if they want, but such things usually lead to a split in groups which is often irrepareable.

I've run similar sites before, and TBH I don't think the 'serious' Mad Max fanbase is large enough to warrant such an undertaking - Star Wars, Transformers, etc, are vast rumbling monster of ongoing material aimed at wider audiences, and really can't be compared.

Short version - until there's another Max film in production things probably should remain much as they are.

I agree with most of whats been said , we really need someone with a bit of tech savvy to re skin this forum for a start at least something blacker lol , I used to maintain a PHBB forum years ago and there is a limit to what can be done with them before you need to start re coding the pages , changing the forum colours and replacing the PHPBB logo is fairly simple task though
I don't miss " Hey what car is that it looks like a Torino " though , this is the best MM site on the web bar none , I hope PB gets time to look into a refresh soon

Peter's pretty busy, has a job and family etc, but he certainly hasn't lost interest.

I'm a web designer by trade and I can tell you all that really matters is content and more importantly the quality of said content. What's been done here over the years and recently with Fury Road is nothing short of incredible. No amount of re-skinning or coding is going to change things. Do things move slow here? Sure they do, but what matters is moving in the right direction. My recommendation would be to put everything in the Wiki and change this site to a portal which can display latest news and point the different fans in the right direction; if people want facts they can go one way, if they want to write fan-fiction they can go another. There's no right or wrong when it comes to fandom so I do feel this site should remain unbiased.
