It was well received but did very average box office figures and has still to properly break even. I'm guessing only two things will see this greenlit 1) some staggering home sales 2) a few Oscar nominations. If it gets nominated - or even wins - the big one I'm sure production will start the following day, if not...George is going to be spending a few years with Superman.
i think it was doing pretty well in Japan at one point which helped Road Warrior in the 80s, but just really hope it does well with blu ray / DVD it doesn't get released over here in the UK till Monday 5th October which im guessing is the last place for release as every other country has it on blu ray and DVD and not the UK, So guess that's when they can tally up the sales

I have a feeling we won't get another, i don't know why i feel this way and i hope i'm wrong, but two miracles seems too much to hope for lol. Plus Hardy is a perpetually busy actor so it's not as if he's waiting around for another shot at the character. There is also the added pressure of delivering a movie that lives up to one of the best reviewed blockbuster in the history of cinema, which is no mean feat.

I really really hope theres another! Tom Hardy wants to do one anyway, and I dont think George Miller would make a bad Mad Max movie.

If there's money in it then we'll get more. The business doesn't really think any deeper than that.

Whilst I couldn't give a monkeys about Terminator this isn't great news for Mad Max.

Admittedly Fury Road did considerably better than this in the U.S. and has the critics behind it, but a sequel is definitely in the balance. The Oscars are looking more and more important now. Who would have thought that 6 months ago.

NO. sorry for the caps but the people I know whom have worked with miller, especially on fury road, say that the studio will give miller a sequel. and once more they will do it without fighting with him over every little nickle and dime. Look I saw the box office returns Fury did a little more then just break even and where it any other director and any other franchise I might say to worry about sequels. but from what I hear when millers ready to do his sequel/prequel or whatever he does with the series,he'll do so with the blessings of the studio because this movie cost them way more then it needed too and that's when you include the 2003 canceld start.

I feel a big difference is Mad Max was and still is something people want more of. Was there any positive anticipation for the new Terminator? Is there anybody besides a handful of naive diehards begging for more? The tone is the franchise should be put on ice. Mad Max is the opposite.

^YES! Terminator got horrible reviews, I don't know how it did so well.
So Geneysis will follow Salvation into the grave of failed trilogies.

Terminator is a popcorn film that people will go and see in droves because it has brand. It's a horribly outdated brand though and one that has more crap films than good ones, but a lot of people don't care it seems.
Anyway, it sounds like I'll need to continue to Google 'mad max' on a daily basis (and comes here of course) for many more years to come! Not sure my wife will be able to handle much more of this though, I've been pretty unbearable updating her on Fury Road for the last few years...

I thought Terminator Genisys was awesome, but that's off topic.
