I think its clear that George had every little to do if anything with the comics. Most of them undermine what he did in the film, especially the Furiosa one and the create some glaring potholes about when the apocalypse happens and why Max has a daughter instead of an infant son.lord humungus wrote:um the comics explain it rather perfectly. ^Really? Even though I just explained why and pointed out the timeline plot holes and character inconsistencies with Fury Road. Furiosa, the wives, Rictus, the Organic and Joe are completely different in the comic, I don't see how George wrote it when it goes against everything he worked so hard to do in the film.

Err... I dont think the comic shows he has a daughter. Your're mixing the game with the movie/comic.AquaCola wrote:I think its clear that George had every little to do if anything with the comics. I haven't played the game or know much about it.
"Come on Pa", that tells me thats Max's daughter in the film. One of the clear give aways that its a reboot since he has an infant son in MM1 as well al know. In the comic they have it as some other girl who he's never met before but ends up getting killed. It make absolutely zero sense in Fury Road why he would go insane and be haunted by visions of her instead of his actual own child and wife from MM1.

Re: Fury Road Interceptor
That's Glory the Child, not his daughter. Check the credits. The same character from the comic books. I don't know why she calls him "Pa", it's probably a figure of speech, but it doesn't matter anyway, because there are two freaking comic book issues that explain in detail who she is.
While I agree that this is a reboot, but for other reasons... namely, that fucking NOKIA 6100 circuit board on Immortan's armor. There, that's what separates the original trilogy from Fury Road.
I suppose him being haunted by other random people makes zero sense too, right? Or, I don't know, he's just supposed to be exclusively haunted by only his wife and kid.AquaCola wrote:It make absolutely zero sense in Fury Road why he would go insane and be haunted by visions of her instead of his actual own child and wife from MM1.

I've known two people with serious PTSD. One was an ex-sniper who would always have the same nightmare where he'd see the face of every person he killed one by one whenever he slept. The other was an ex-prison guard who, after finding an inmate who'd committed suicide during his rounds, kept seeing his face on people around him.AquaCola wrote:It make absolutely zero sense in Fury Road why he would go insane and be haunted by visions of her instead of his actual own child and wife from MM1.
PTSD, like all mental illnesses, is very much subject the individual and can be very strange and illogical.
It's clearly used in Fury Road to give some insight into why Max is mad and constantly avoiding emotional involvement with other people. Since it's guilt based the audience can establish sympathy with him as a protagonist.
I don't deny what made it to the screen comes across as quite clumsy in both the scripting and the editing, but we can't continue to hold Fury Road to standards based on our own speculation over its relation to the previous films. In fact it's becoming a little tiresome to constantly read so much closed mindedness behind this perennial complaint.

I don't know if it's just me, but I can't really see what the problem is regarding the character Glory the Child. To me it seems (and has always seemed) that she is asking Max for help, but when that doesn't come, she can clearly be seen walking away saying - 'Come on Pa.' (or similar)Taipan wrote:That's Glory the Child, not his daughter. Check the credits. The same character from the comic books. I don't know why she calls him "Pa", ...
To me Glory is speaking to her own father after Max doesn't help and she is telling her dad to come on/leave. The reason we only see Glory is because (according to the comics/alluded to in the films) Max couldn't save her and this might be some reflection on the fact that he couldn't save his own son (if you read Fury Road as a sequel to the original film and/or Max as the same Max from previous adventures…which I do).
I personally think it is very clear what is going on with that scene and although everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I really don't understand the confusion.

He gets things jumbled up in his visions. Not only is she referring to him as Pa (unless that's some common expression), but she gets ran over by Immortan's Gigahorse (as opposed to the Buzzards' spikey truck). Not to mention she appears underwater and skull-faced and all that jazz. Max's PTSD imagination does what it wants.

I might have missed this but i never see the "come on pa" child as Glory. The child was far away when he appeared in Max's vision, could have been a boy. But i don't know, need to watch the movie again. I do know Glory appeared as an apparation of the bad guy who crossbowed Max.
