I've noticed there's a lot of criticism surrounding Furiosa's plan online (not just this forum). I will try to explain her "points" and strategy and what went wrong.

The Plan:

1- Hide the 5 Wives in the cargo of the War Rig. During night.
2- In the very beginning, drive on the road towards Gas Town as established by Immortan Joe.
3- Steer the War Rig in the Wasteland. Possibly with the Citadel not paying attention...
4- Use the Buzzards to kill the War Boys pursuing her, once Immortan Joe would realize she betrayed him.
5- Use the Electric Tornado to get rid of the remaining War Boys and their vehicles.
6- Reach the Canyon. Give the Rock Riders the fuel as previously planned. Thus, They bomb out the rocks ABOVE the ARCHES in order to block the access to the Canyon forever.
7- Drive towards The Green Place. Undetected.
8- Live forever in the Green Place. Free.

What went wrong:

1- Alright.
2- Alright.
3- Unfortunately, Corpus Colossus was paying attention.
4- War Boys fought and beated the Buzzards.
5- War Boys survived the Electric Tornado.
6- Rock Riders were seriously pissed off once they realized the War Boys were alive and after Furiosa. They just bombed out the rocks above ONE ARCH then turned against Furiosa.
7- War Boys were after them throughout the Swamp. Especially the Bullet Farmers.
8- The Green Place doesn't exist anymore.

The main thing Furiosa should have done was to send Miss Giddy to sabotage that monocular Corpus Collosus was looking through. She was already left for dead, she might have ruined it and The Citadel would have a hard time seeing where the War Rig was heading.
Furiosa could then go off road safe get attacked by Buzzards to get rid of the War Boys. The sandstorm would have taken out the rest of the war boys and she'd get away scott free.

I think Gas Town would have warned the Citadel about the War Rig anyway...

Fair point.

Back in topic............ I just don't understand how they know it's 160 and not 150 or 140 or 120 days... why "160"? It's a very specific and precise number. Miller is trying to say us something in there.

If the monocular was destroyed, this is very unlikely. If I remember it right, the 'light signals' where only visible through the monocular unless it is during nighttime. The distance was to great. So she could get away with it as long Immortan or someone else wouldn't expect something else behind the idea of why the monocular was destroyed.

While planning ahead how could she know the storm would be there? Is it permanent, always in the same place? If it is permanent, that's weird.

I don't think the storm was planned. She told the biker gang in the canyon there would only be a few vehicles in pursuit. Those are her escort vehicles.

I'm no meteorologist but wouldn't any form of storm, particularly one featuring lightning, suggest a huge expanse of water must exist in the region? Don't those things run on humidity?

From what I gather, dust storms form because the sun warms up the sand which heats up the air above it and then it travels upwards causing gusts of wind that pick up small particles of sand and then it just goes. I don't think you need humid air for that, just cold air that starts moving up because it's heated up by the hot sand. Damn I'm no meteorologist either, just read that on Wikipedia ;)
