Re: Mad Max at the San Diego Comic Con
Warner could be waiting to see the response to the game before making marketing commitments. I'd rather they didn't hurry post production, either. Road Warrior was a lightening bolt out of the blue for most of us here and still stands the test of time. Except for Thunderdome (run on AMC ALOT), people don't remember MM and RW that well. I'd like FR to have the same impact with the current generation as RW did for mine. If that means more time, I am patient.

Two things conspired to keep it away from SDCC 2013. As I said previously, I think it won't come out until after SDCC 2014, and they will use that event to promote it instead. Also, if they released anything movie related at SDCC 2013, it would detract from the spotlight they wanted kept on the game's presence at the convention. They don't want to dilute their brand marketing efforts.
DGSimo, I don't think the movie has been properly scored yet. If anything, they might have commissioned a temp score by someone other than the person who will eventually score the whole movie. Usually that's done later in the post production process. Last we heard, Mario Beltrami said he was going to score it, but I've heard nothing for several months now.

You found the composer a few months back mate. It looks like Sydney based Elliot Wheeler is handling the soundtrack as he tweeted he completed a bunch of the score at the beginning of April and his site says he's working on the soundtrack:biolumen wrote:Two things conspired to keep it away from SDCC 2013. The reasoning here is interesting, but it could be interpreted differently. Fury Road has been so an atypical project from the start that its marketing might be atypical too. The game has been featured prominently at this year SDCC to focuse on this iteration of the franchise (game industry, like Doug Mitchell said once, can be a huge part of the business).biolumen wrote: Also, if they released anything movie related at SDCC 2013, it would detract from the spotlight they wanted kept on the game's presence at the convention. So I think Fury Road, even if not featured at all at the SDCC 2013, could still be released in the first half of 2014. The release of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug can provide some propaganda space, before that a Fury Road event trailer can be seen at the Super Bowl. I mean, is Comic Con so a must be place ? After all, Mad Max, as a brand, was here this year.

Yeah, the SDCC isn't that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. Theatrical trailers and TV spots will do the heavy lifting, Point taken.Stef-Man wrote:The reasoning here is interesting, but it could be interpreted differently. Still, unless they plan on releasing it very early in the year, I don't see room for it during the first half. Only spot they really have is first week of May, and that would mean it would open against the Spiderman sequel (yikes), as well as clearing out of IMAX 3D theaters to make way for Godzilla two weeks later.
If the movie is what I hope it is, opening it outside of the Summer popcorn blockbuster season may be in the studios' best interest.

Very cool all around!
As a side note, I noticed Jeff is running my design/version of the M.F.P. badges. If anyone else is interested in these, let me know.

High-quality design and material, but not expensive!

Going home. With all the people sitting in it, I wonder if it got scratched.
