Re: Possible pictures of actual Fury Road vehicles
Not sure why it's so hard to accept a reboot. Dark Knight did pretty well without Adam West, Keaton or George Clooney and carried on with the mythos of that character, without being a sequel to the previous flicks.
Someone linked to that PR intro about it being a story told by the word burgers of somewhere, so easy to see Miller liking fireside story telling to make it someones hand me down tale of an encounter with Max. RW and BTD were also movie imaginings of fireside "tells" with whatever half remembered inconsistent details mixed up or thrown in. Doesn't matter if the story told by the grown up Feral Kid of the northern tribes won't match the stories of the Chick and the other Bruce Spense aviator told in a burnt out Sydney of BTD or the folks hearing stories handed down by the word burgers or whoever in this one. Sounds like we are getting another hand-me-down embellished half remembered fireside story and from what has been posted here its not going to be boring.

Re: Possible pictures of actual Fury Road vehicles
Tom Hardy was quoted a wile back saying that the whole story is explained in the first 20 minutes of Fury Road , a mini recap of the story to date , I doubt that there is any way that this new film will or could be connected to MM2 and 3

Re: Possible pictures of actual Fury Road vehicles
I believe he said something to the effect of 'you could fit the whole trilogy into the first 20 minutes of FR'. I think he meant the amount of action rather than the plot.
As for the sequel, prequel, reboot argument, it should be noted that the new version of the Interceptor was built for the Mel Gibson version of the movie. So exactly how were they going to use it in that movie?

Re: Possible pictures of actual Fury Road vehicles
I totaly agree. Nothing about the story of the first three movies being done in the first 20 minutes. I agree that Tom was talking about all the action in the first three movies can be fit into the first 20 minutes of this movie. Sounds awesome for the rest of the movie let alone the finale of the film!biolumen wrote:I believe he said something to the effect of 'you could fit the whole trilogy into the first 20 minutes of FR'. It is only my opinion, but I believe that Brendan McCarthy's insight was that the intecteptor was a major "character" and should at least be included in the movie. Now at the time the guy in South Africa who built it, titled the car "the other of the last v8's". So that could lead one to think that in the 2003 version of the film Max or one of the villains had another MFP interceptor. I now believe this will not be the case as the reboot can explain Max having the interceptor!biolumen wrote:As for the sequel, prequel, reboot argument, it should be noted that the new version of the Interceptor was built for the Mel Gibson version of the movie. Re: Possible pictures of actual Fury Road vehicles
BoB interceptor is the real wildcard (or red herring) here... If it ween't for it, FR could easily take place after Thunderdome, or be a reboot or whatever.
One thing that bothers me about the BOB is that it just doesn't look RIGHT standing aside all those newly built monsters. Can you really imagine the Interceptor driving alongside the Gigahorse?!? It would like like a glorified golf cart ffs!
So it either gets destroyed early on, when we don't yet see new vehicles or is part of another story altogether...
And there are lots of RoadWarrior-like vehicles we've seen so far... all those 70s style cars with normal-looking suspensions etc. All in contrast to jacked-up monster trucks and multi-engine 40s hot-rods. The Silver Interceptor fits perfectly in this style.
So, maybe two interceptors for two story-lines?

The classic Interceptor could be part of an intro, flashbacks throughout the movie, who knows. It's all how they wrote the script. The movie might take place across a span of years instead of days.

Re: Possible pictures of actual Fury Road vehicles
We are living in age where everything is getting remade and rebooted. "Mad Max" is something so sacred, especially to us, that to reboot it seems like an insult to us fans. However, the idea that this film is being told from the perspective of a narrator does present the possibility of it connecting it with the original films, thus continuity errors can be attributed to the narrator's own point of view. If this is the case, than the fun will be figuring out how it fits in with the original trilogy just as we have speculated what took place between each of the three films. Not to mention that the narration aspect also frees Miller to tell the story he wants to tell as well as bringing the Interceptor back, which I can guess is something he knew we would want.

Re: Possible pictures of actual Fury Road vehicles
I have been a mad max fan ever since MM2. when I was 5 years old it is the first movie I ever remember liking. hell I am doing 3d model work (which you guys seem to be largely ignoring but yeah) I treasure each and every one of the movies in the series so far. so please don't take me to be a "weekend fan" I have lived breathed and ate mad max for almost my entire life.
I bring this us simply because I just don't get it. even with all I know about psychology, biases and the like I simply do not get the issue here. or the debate.
I'll try to dig up the qoute but last I read from miller was that he himself said this was a reboot/reimagining. now if I am wrong or if he was mis qouted then fine. but my point is. at the end of the day how does this in any way effect the original movies? is miller going to release new blu-ray trilogy with hours of added in cgi,new characters like jar jargamous the comedy relief ruler of the waste land. will the badcops in the red xa bat car shoot at max first? will mel gibson be digitally added screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" when the warrior woman is killed? no no he isn't. unlike the director I am parodying here, miller has been pretty on the level with us in preserveing the trilogy as is. he could easily fix the flub in MM2 with the disappering re-appearing front end. he could probabaly fix the fake front end on the rig that smashes tow cutter. but he hasn't. all the things that make up the charm and brilliance that is the mad max trilogy is well preserved and has lasted on into the future so far.
I love the trilogy very much. but I feel there is a not just a lack of miller made apocolypses but a lack of good ones out there back when people were trying to jumpstart the apocolpsye movies (such as the abismal doomsday and bedflowers) the one thing I do recall well is miller saying this was a way of fleshing out and telling more of the story of the mad max universe. is it really so bad that he wants to do it and make money for possible sequels and merchandise? I honestly don't think so.

I was in no way implying you were a "weekend fan." I will see the film regardless, but I again I stress my desire that Fury Road somehow connect with the original trilogy.so please don't take me to be a "weekend fan" I have lived breathed and ate mad max for almost my entire life.

That whole thing would be a great forum signature if it wasn't so large.
