Re: 1/18th Custom Diecasts
Well, I've been quite busy lately with various things, but I've gotten some work done here and there on models.
The red XA was more or less put on the back burner, but here's a shot showing some work I've done on it. The hood is being re-worked in spurts, and I'm devising a setup for the injector stacks to be added not just to the hood but attached to the motor.

Apart from not working on the XA, I did recently get the idea for a quick 1/18 project built with one of my '69 GTO's. In particular, it was an older Ertl one with badly flaking blue paint that looked terrible, hence my willingness to sacrifice it. It's not a Mad Max car, but it definitely fits the movie's theme of building a badass car for fighting crime. Fans of the 2004 Punisher movie should recognize the car I'm trying to build here, though it's not quite done yet.

There's still things I'd like to add. When I took these pictures I hadn't put the steering wheel back in (it's in there now). I still need to modify the interior door panels, add the armor plate under the motor and pull-down/up armor panels on the windshield and side windows.

Re: 1/18th Custom Diecasts
I just noticed your post tonight. Funny thing is, after basically taking the summer off from modelling, just this morning I started working again on that 55 Chevy I started last year! I just finished working the busiest week of my year (4 consecutive days of 14 hour shifts), so I thought it'd be relaxing on my day off to get back to it. I'm finally painting and weathering it, gotta break out the airbrush and get it finished. I'll try and get some pictures up in the next few days.
Re: 1/18th Custom Diecasts

Okay weelz, here's a shot of the progress. I still need to work on the interior and do some more weathering around the bottom and underside of the car, but this is the gist of what it'll look like. More pics when it's done.

Re: 1/18th Custom Diecasts
hello mate, was just wondering if you got my PM about what weathering stuff you used for your BoB? i got myself a tamiya weathering stick (sand colour) and it worked pretty well on the landau but im after the orangey colour that you used too just to make it a bit better, im itching to start on my BoB too
gonna put a little of the sand colour on for the lighter dust. any help appreciated

Re: 1/18th Custom Diecasts
Hey, Weelz. Sorry it took a bit, but I sent you a PM.
I guess while I'm here I'll post what I've been working on lately. It's more of a freelance post apocalyptic model, but it'll look the part of a Mad Max style car when its done. Here goes:

The base car is a 1/18th '70 Datsun 240Z. I've always admired the looks of the 70's Z cars and wanted to take one from a yuppie sports car and turn it into something like Peter Brock's 1972 Baja 500 240Z, only meaner. So far I did some scratch building and modified the suspension to ride higher on bigger tires, then modded the engine bay and trans tunnel to accommodate a Chevy V8 and trans. The headers were too wide in the engine bay so I had to make my own ones to fit. A few things are only mocked up here, but it'll get a rollcage, cowl hood, ducktail spoiler, front and rear push bumpers, and some more lights. Maybe some armor on the back windshield too. Not 100% sure yet, but for painting this thing, I'm thinking white with flat black hood and maybe some orange as an accent color.
