With the establishment of more and more US military bases in Australia... I beg to differ.

This came from some one i know.
There are individual's and group's in Australia right now, that have EMP gear that has the capability of knocking out at lest 3,ooo. square meters of area.

In todays environment no... but during the cold war certainly.flightsuit wrote:That's what I was thinking. None of the super powers would have much reason to directly target Australia, would they? And if not, then they certainly wouldn't go to the trouble of exploding the high altitude nuke that would be necessary for blasting Australia with an EMP.toecutter wrote:technically thats not correct. Do some mathematical modelling on EMP. In the Max universe - remote Australia - its entirely possible.Mad Max RW wrote:Technically, if there was a nuclear war nothing made after the early 1980s would ever be able to run again. Road Warrior (and Thunderdome) were at least feasible. Today's vehicles are totally reliant on electronics.
Australia had a number of high value American listening and early warning posts (like Pine Gap in central Australia).
The only real way to knock them out back in those days would be to waste a ICBM as none of the soviet bombers at the time could reach here and very few had inflight refueling or tanker support.
Certainly Sydney, Canberra would also be targetted simply because Canberra is the capitol and Sydney has the largest number of people and also naval, army and airforce base nearby.
A nuke on Pine Gap would certainly mean anything in central Australia would be affected by EMP within a very large radious, meaning that only the extreme corners of the country, like Darwin, northern QLD (nothing to do but breed), Perth and Adelaide would be left ok. But then that would depend on where the winds would take the fallout.

Just a thought re the Jap Crap discussion , the 2 / 3 movies are set in central Australia away from the coast , the populated city areas have been destroyed by war , most probably nuclear by the look of Sydney in MM3.
So your garden variety type vehicle would be whats left to scavenge , as the strongest to survive are the ones with the fastest toughest vehicles , you would be trying to land your hands on something pretty powerful and tough for your ride.
In the early years obvious vehicle like utes , trucks and 4wd's might be the vehicles of choice , but as things grew more violent people would be trying to get something better suited , even beginning to modify cars to suit as we have seen , the odd v8 hot rod could be old show cars scavenged out out peoples garages and rebirthed for a new life , also the life span of vehicles that are being abused would be short , what we are seeing now is people making cars out of whats left , no off the shelf stuff anymore
I doubt I'd be trying to cram all my gear into a Subaru WRX when I have an oxy , an old truck , bulldozer and GTS Monaro in the back shed is what I'm trying to say
Never any military vehicles in all the movies either , must have been a hell of a war
I hope the PA truck plays Motorhead " Ace of Spades " or at least some AC/DC if I hear techno them I out

Re: Possible pictures of actual Fury Road vehicles
Given the theoretical nature of large scale EMP affects, the host of widely variable factors, combined with the complex strategy and game of nuclear war it seems to me pretty much any scenario is believable.
I do enjoy peoples theorising and the scientific/factual contributions. What I don't like is when someone takes their own interpretation of the Mad Max universe and science and feels there is a strict right or wrong everyone else (Including even the creator) should abide by.
The fact is we don't really know what Miller envisaged in the first three films, and in addition to that he is always in the position to change his art as he sees fit. In the case of Fury Road this is a reboot and can subject to even more change.

I agree with MWFV8, the things we take away from fiction are our own concepts. Not facts or truth. And any artist worth his salt doesn't like to do the same thing twice. This movie will be different, but that doesn't mean it will be bad.

Thats better, not a sub woofer in sight.
I thought the wheels previoulsy looked unprotected.
Maybe the scaffolding at the back are camera mounts for shooting above shots?

Hey what's going on with the front of this thing? It's got hydraulic arms and hinges for something this isn't attached? Wonder if it's going to have a plow/scoop on the front which lifts up?
Also, supercharged engines, barrel rear fuel tanks, side exit upswept exhausts and black.
