26 FEB 12 @ 05:00AM BY BARRY KENNEDY
A beloved era in motorcycle riding will be celebrated in Riddells Creek when the Kawasaki Z Owners Victoria arrive on their prized wheels.
The club is celebrating its 20th anniversary and, more importantly, the arrival of the Kawasaki Z1 and Z900 models in Australia 40 years ago.
The models’ place in the Australian motorcycle community’s heart was sealed with their prominence in the locally-made cult movie Stone (1974), followed by the hit Mad Max (1979).
During a three-day visit to Riddells Creek, club members will go to locations where Mad Max was filmed.
Sunbury-based club member Jim Johnstone said he cut his teeth learning to ride a Kawasaki Z900.
“You either had one or wanted one,” he said.
The club is hosting an open day with many bikes sprayed like the bikes in the 1970s movies.
It’s on Saturday, March 3 at the Treetops Scout Camp, 140 Royal Parade, Riddells Creek from 11am-3pm.
Entry by gold coin donation with collections also taking place for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Details: [email protected] or 0423 481 872.

Re: Motorcyclists celebrate in Riddells Creek
Thanks for the info - interesting location they have chosen, I wouldn't have said it was particularly near any locations, although it is reasonable riding distance from a bunch of them (particularly Clunes), so I guess they're planning this more around a few road trips than camping out at the actual spots. Would be nice if they ever did another run like they did for the 25th, that is still one of the biggest events that was ever had.

I am jealous dude. I got myself a Kawaasaki Z 1000 A1 but the only fairing I was founding was the one that Johnny, Starbuck, Cundalini are using in the movie. Man, dude the pic is cool as hell.

I could probably make it on my own, but I like you kids.
