Max's V-8 (a.k.a. Vengeance Begins)
I was going to use the 1:18 V-8 but after much thought decided that certain things need to be changed. The problem with the original V-8 as seen in
The Road Warrior is its ground clearance. The clearance between the V-8's belly and the ground is simply too small.
Marauders a.k.a.
Mad Max Returns takes place in a post apocalypse Earth. The planet is in ruins and the terrain is as rough as can be. Debris is everywhere. Vehicles with low ground clearance won't survive. Plain and simple. So Max's V-8 needed to be updated big time. It needed to have HIGH GROUND CLEARANCE.
The best match for Max's V-8 is the GI JOE 25th anniversary VAMP. It's realistic looking, believable, built to survive and thrive and has excellent ground clearance. Not to mention excellent all-terrain wheels. It won't have those dual guns in the rear though. As the series progresses, Max updates his V-8. He repaints it in black, adds a retractable windshield, makeshift doors, etc. Most importantly though is that Max removes the passenger seat. This action represents his detachment from society. After the death of his family and friends, Max loses his humanity. He is destroyed emotionally and thus, he is emotionless. He is as cold as a rock. He is a shell of a man. Thus, his V-8 has only 1 seat. He is a lone wolf and desires no human company.
Max's V-8 is also known as Vengeance Begins. After the slaughter of his family and friends, all Max can think of is revenge. Another word for revenge is 'vengeance'. So the 'V' in V-8 stands for 'Vengeance'. The number '8' usually means the beginning of something. In Max's case, it is the beginning of his vengeance spree. Max has become obsessed with finding Wez and his sadistic gang of marauders. Max has become The Marauder Hunter. He is on the hunt for marauders of any kind. And when he finds them, he will interrogate, torture, and kill them all!
Don't get me wrong. Max is nothing at all like Wez. Wez is hell incarnate. Wez is a monster. He kills anyone and anything without hesitation and without a grain of mercy. Wez experiences no remorse or regret. When Wez remembers his victims, he rejoices at their last moments of fear and pain. Wez doesn't even care about his own marauders. They are pawns in his quest for glory. Wez feels nothing for his brother, Toecutter or his father, Humungus. For these reasons, Wez has no weaknesses. He is the perfect killing machine. Wez only cares about one person --- himself.
The Wez from the movie,
The Road Warrior was an awesome villain. But he had one weakness. He attached himself to someone --- Golden Youth. This New Wez from
Marauders a.k.a.
Mad Max Returns doesn't emotionally attach himself to anyone or anything.
Max and Wez are complete opposites. Max is a man who lost it all: family, kids, wife, friends, dog. Any person with such unimaginable loss would most likely lose his/her humanity. You and I couldn't blame them. Max may be The Marauder Hunter but he is also The Marauder With A Heart. There is a spark of humanity still within him. More on that in a future update.
