Marauders II Slaughterauders

Dune Lords a.k.a. Sand Masters are a tribe of elite warriors who dwell in the deserts. Their initial leader was named Zeidi but I changed his name to Valrik (pronounced 'val-rye'). His right and left hand men are his sister Valia (pronounced 'va-lyah') and his best friend Vanjil (pronounced 'van-geel').

Dune Lords utilize dirt bikes, quads, and camels as transportation. Dune buggies known as Sand Fighters are their most effective form of transportation. They are armed and armored to the very last panel.

I am contemplating to increase the ground clearance.

Dune Lords keep to themselves. They don't mix with other tribes because they have been wronged one too many times. They are mortal enemies with the Slaughterauders who have marauded, pillaged, ransacked and committed horrendous, unnamable atrocities against them.

Dune Lords (a.k.a. Sand Masters) in essence are like the Defenders (from Marauders a.k.a. Mad Max Returns). However, it is up to Apex to win them over if humanity is to triumph over the Slaughterauders!

Marauders II Slaughterauders

Initially, I was going to base the Dune Lords' Sand Fighters on the GI JOE Sand Razor (pictured below).

However, I quickly realized that I wanted a more realistic-looking vehicle. That is why I opted for this one:

I scored three of these at my local Targets for about $3-$6 each. I am glad I stumbled upon them because they are incredibly wonderful vehicles. I plan on adding fully functional headlights in the future.

Marauders II Slaughterauders

During road wars, Slaughterauders employ the use of vehicles resembling truck mounted passenger stairs. These seemingly innocuous vehicles are in fact deadly and give Slaughterauders a high advantage in battle. Some vehicles have stairs mounted on turrets capable of rotating 360 degrees, thus allowing Slaughterauders to jump onto enemy vehicles from any direction/angle. Depending on the size of the enemy vehicles, Slaugherauders will unhesitatingly jump even in the dozens.

Image

For this reason, Dune Lords have added wire mesh to certain vulnerable areas of Sand Fighters to protect driver and gunner from Slaughterauders. (Doors/shields/panels will be accommodated over remaining open areas).

Marauders II Slaughterauders

Road wars are the most common form of warfare in post apocalyptic Earth. A single road war has casualties in the hundreds.

Sand Fighters are equipped with multiple weapons. Passenger wields a massive machine gun capable of tearing through almost anything. Gunner seats rotate 360 degrees to allow use of both roof mounted machine gun and rear blaster. Removable rocket launchers are stored atop the roof. Additional fuel and ammunition is kept on the vehicle's side baskets.

Marauders II Slaughterauders

Sand Fighter Variant (WIP)

There are many variations of not just Sand Fighters but also dirt bikes and quads. Most Sand Fighters accommodate 3 Sand Masters.

Marauders II Slaughterauders

Apex and God Lightning in Road War Mode WIP

In the final battle against the Slaughterauders, Apex and God Lightning ride out together, guns blazing. Apex with his mighty sword and shield; God Lightning sporting armor and wielding two massive gatling guns!

This heavy armor/arms look was heavily inspired by the most recent He-Man and his battle cat toys; ThunderThorr and White Fangs from Beast Raider; the armored polar bears from The Golden Compass. Apex and God Lightning are works in progress. This most certainly won't be the final look but the basics are definitely there. In his final battles, Apex wears a helmet, chest armor, and wields a sword and shield. In his final battle, God Lightning sports shining armor, helmet, and massive firepower. At least 1 gigantic rotating gun and 1 rocket launcher.

God Lightning's name was inspired funny enough by the Grease song, Grease Lightning. In coming up with a name for this character, i wanted a word(s) that instantly commanded respect, divinity, legendary status, power, and elegance. Initially, I wanted to use a combination of African words (since Marauders II Slaughterauders is set in Africa) but my search came up short. Around this time, I had heard Grease songs frequently and suddenly, the Grease Lightning song title popped into my head. The 'Lightning' word stuck out. I knew this character most of all stood out like a god (like God Magnus/God Fire Convoy/God Ginrai from Transformers). That's how God Lightning was born. I can't think of a more effective, worthy, and quintessential name that epitomizes his characteristics.

Max's V-8 (a.k.a. Vengeance Begins)

I was going to use the 1:18 V-8 but after much thought decided that certain things need to be changed. The problem with the original V-8 as seen in The Road Warrior is its ground clearance. The clearance between the V-8's belly and the ground is simply too small. Marauders a.k.a. Mad Max Returns takes place in a post apocalypse Earth. The planet is in ruins and the terrain is as rough as can be. Debris is everywhere. Vehicles with low ground clearance won't survive. Plain and simple. So Max's V-8 needed to be updated big time. It needed to have HIGH GROUND CLEARANCE.

The best match for Max's V-8 is the GI JOE 25th anniversary VAMP. It's realistic looking, believable, built to survive and thrive and has excellent ground clearance. Not to mention excellent all-terrain wheels. It won't have those dual guns in the rear though. As the series progresses, Max updates his V-8. He repaints it in black, adds a retractable windshield, makeshift doors, etc. Most importantly though is that Max removes the passenger seat. This action represents his detachment from society. After the death of his family and friends, Max loses his humanity. He is destroyed emotionally and thus, he is emotionless. He is as cold as a rock. He is a shell of a man. Thus, his V-8 has only 1 seat. He is a lone wolf and desires no human company.

Max's V-8 is also known as Vengeance Begins. After the slaughter of his family and friends, all Max can think of is revenge. Another word for revenge is 'vengeance'. So the 'V' in V-8 stands for 'Vengeance'. The number '8' usually means the beginning of something. In Max's case, it is the beginning of his vengeance spree. Max has become obsessed with finding Wez and his sadistic gang of marauders. Max has become The Marauder Hunter. He is on the hunt for marauders of any kind. And when he finds them, he will interrogate, torture, and kill them all!

Don't get me wrong. Max is nothing at all like Wez. Wez is hell incarnate. Wez is a monster. He kills anyone and anything without hesitation and without a grain of mercy. Wez experiences no remorse or regret. When Wez remembers his victims, he rejoices at their last moments of fear and pain. Wez doesn't even care about his own marauders. They are pawns in his quest for glory. Wez feels nothing for his brother, Toecutter or his father, Humungus. For these reasons, Wez has no weaknesses. He is the perfect killing machine. Wez only cares about one person --- himself.

The Wez from the movie, The Road Warrior was an awesome villain. But he had one weakness. He attached himself to someone --- Golden Youth. This New Wez from Marauders a.k.a. Mad Max Returns doesn't emotionally attach himself to anyone or anything.

Max and Wez are complete opposites. Max is a man who lost it all: family, kids, wife, friends, dog. Any person with such unimaginable loss would most likely lose his/her humanity. You and I couldn't blame them. Max may be The Marauder Hunter but he is also The Marauder With A Heart. There is a spark of humanity still within him. More on that in a future update.

Marauders II Slaughterauders was heavily inspired by the movie, Blood Diamond. Slaughterauders are the new marauders in this series.

Slaughterauders get their name from slaughtering anything and everything: humans, animals, and plants. Mother Nature plays a central role in this series. Slaughterauders engage in slash and burn agriculture and are responsible for the near decimation of Mother Nature. Slaughterauders savagely burn and kill Africa's flora and fauna.

God Lightning shares a bond with a little African girl named Akoya (her name means "one who brings joy"). His bond is the equivalent of Aslan's bond with Lucy in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. God Lightning would be the same size as the sabretooth tiger in the movie, 10,000 B.C.

The weapons in Marauders II Slaughterauders are more primitive, savage, and non-explosive. Firearms are scarce. Apex for example wields a chainsword and shield. Slaughterauders wield machetes, swords, knives, chainsaws, maces, spears, etc.

Apex's final battle sword would be a non-functional chainsword. Whereas in Marauders 3 Warauders, the Warauders wield fully functional chainswords. Apex's final battle helmet may feature a flip-down visor.

Apex is the hero of Marauders II Slaughterauders. The word, "apex" was deliberately chosen because I wanted to follow in the footsteps of the name, "Max" (from Marauders a.k.a. Mad Max Returns). Both heroes' names end in "x". Similarly, in Marauders 3 Warauders, Rex is the hero and his name also ends in "x".

Apex has the unique gift of communicating with animals. He is able to communicate with God Lightning and through him, Apex is able to connect with Mother Nature and call upon the help of Mother Nature's flora and fauna (for the final battle).

Slaughterauders forcefully exploit the services of humans and animals alike. Slaughterauders kidnap mostly male children, youth, and teens and turn them into child soldiers a.k.a. Slaverauders. Children are much easier to brainwash. Slaverauders are in essence slaves of Pyrophiliac. Most of the Slaverauders consist of children; the youngest being 5 years old.

I always looked down upon the movie, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome particularly due to the sequence with Max and the Feral Children. Nevertheless, that specific sequence (and Tina Turner's song, We Don't Need Another Hero) inspired this story immensely. In Marauders II Slaughterauders, Apex is the long awaited hero of the Slaverauders. He is The One whom they have been waiting for so many years. Apex is The One who will free the Slaverauders from Pyrophiliac and the Slaughterauders.

P.S. I came up with the name "Slaverauders" about 2 hours ago. I think it epitomizes the plight of the child soldiers. They in essence are slaves enslaved by Pyrophiliac and his Slaughterauders.

When Marauders a.k.a. Mad Max Returns finally sees the light of day as a stop motion animation short series on YouTube (when that will happen, I don't know since this economy is crap to say the ultimate least and nowadays I find myself paying for everything and there are no health benefits anywhere to say the ultimate least).... well these are the vehicles for the villagers in Max Rockatansky's community.

Image

There's the Schleich Truck, the AWE Striker, the VAMP (which eventually becomes Mad Max's V-8), and a Chap Mei Soldier Force jeep.

I am also contemplating the use of this Schleich jeep and trailer (see picture below) because it has that quintessential quality of being a farmer/villager vehicle.

Image

The Defenders on the other hand would have powerful visually looking vehicles that could wage road wars with The Marauders. Among the Defenders' vehicle motor pool are Ertl quads (some quads with built-in stretchers), the Desert Striker (see first picture), a fire truck complete with ladder and hose, and an armored/armed ambulance.
