I'm convinced that all of Humungous's cohorts had taken a left turn during Mardi Gra when the bombs went off. It's the only way to explain THAT car!

Hey now... I would be secure enough in my manhood to drive it around. At least it's jacked up with big tires on a 4x4 chassis with lakes pipes.

I would have to pass on the pink beard though!

I still think it's one of the most badass vehicles in Mad Max.

I just noticed, it looks like the rear bumper was dropped in the movie...??

Check the distance between the taillights and the top of the bumper in both pics.

It looks like the film car had a body lift. Those late 50's Mopars still had a full frame, they weren't unibody yet. It also looks like they moved the spring pads on the differential to the top of the tubes, which would give it an additional 3 1/2" of lift. Those years also had issues with rust in the rocker panels but patching those isn't too difficult. It doesn't have to be perfect after all. This would be a super easy build, way easier then Dave's Humungus Machine. Drop in a late-model pre-Magnum 318 with a 727, A little brake system up-grades. 2-inch body lift. It could be reliable enough to drive anywhere. Somebody needs to build this thing.

I just checked out the ad again and I totally missed the car already having a 383 in it. That means it should have a cable-shift 727 already. This means the engine/trans should be plenty stout and reliable. There's nothing wrong with the old Poly-head V-8's, but they are harder to get parts for. From what I gather, the car runs. All I'd do would be to make sure the bottom end is ok, re-seal and gasket everything, new hoses and rubber lines, have the radiator checked out, throw on electronic ignition, and fit a late-model double reservior master cylinder. The body lift should be just like lifting a regular pick-up truck. There are no really custom mods to the body itself. For the pink paint, I'd buy a case of pink in spray cans and a few rolls of masking tape and invite some friends over for a spray-bomb party. Not including the purchase price, I think a really nice replica could be built for about $3000. Pink beard is optional.

When pink is backing up you can see a bit under the movie car, you see the rear axle is under the leaf springs, instead of on top, to raise it a few inches.

here's mine, but only 1/25 scale
