Are the video files on the CD the same resolution as on their website?
That was about 320 x 147 resolution, which gave an ASF file of about 21MB. I have a copy on my HDD right now.

If the MPG and/or MOV file on this CD are better, then I might be interested in buying a copy.

they're better..don't know the exact resolution/fileformat but Peter Barton should know.

How big are the files? That should give a rough indication of quality.Quote: Originally posted by 2-stroke on 02 June 2002

The file sizes are given on the Addicted To Bass sub-page I set up:
"this version of the single contains the video clip in both Quicktime (66MB) and MPEG (36MB) format"

The two policemen in the yellow interceptor look familiar. Is it in fact the original Roop & Charlie? (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Millichamp,+SteveSteve Millichamp and http://us.imdb.com/Name?Ley,+JohnJohn Ley)
Steve sometimes posts on this board, so maybe he could confirm.

I would doubt if the Roop and Charlie actors got a re-run in this clip.
I asked Peter Barton if the producers of this clip had contacted him for help in anyway.
It appears that they did not contact any of the "connected" Mad Max circle at all.
Peter said that he never heard from them.
I wondered just why they did not contact either myself/Grant or the even closer by location Scott Smith to assist with the Cars.
If we had one day with a pop rivet gun and a can of spray paint, and those car's could have looked heaps better.
It would have been so easy to have done a quick stick with the roof spoiler, trunk spoiler and even the Monza front end,
nothing would have had to have been finished or neat, (or even correctly attached) and they would have looked fine for the clip.
It takes about 20 hours or so to fit a roof spoiler but I could do it in one hour with a few pop rivets!
Likewise all the other stuff. Spray paint over rivets and 100 MPH tape for the film clip it would be fine.
They spent a week filming it (and did a bloody excellent job, so be sure I am not running this great clip down in anyway, I loved it) they also hired professional actors. But for just a few (well a few thousand) dollars more they could have had twice the result. Their buget must have been quite large big enough to cover what we would have wanted. Yes they would have had to by the parts but I would have worked for free.
Oh well.
cheers

One of the guys who made the clip did email me eventually, apparently they used the page as a bit of a resource, including the locations. Although I can't really say that I recognise any of the locations from the film clip in relation to Mad Max. The area is similar, but I didn't spot any specific location matches.
As for the cars, they were sold after the clip and are apparently still around. The car that was jumped was bent out of shape, that one might have gone to the wreckers by now. Apparently the other one had all the extras stripped off it, and whoever bought it was just going to convert it back to a regular coupe, or use it for parts.

Looks like I'm a little late for the discussion.
I was the guy that directed the Puretone 'Addicted To Bass' video. I must say its great to read that you guys actually dug it. Being the TRUE fans of the Max and all.
My homage to my hero George Miller started as a four day shoot in October 2001. It was UK music video budget but beacuse of what we were doing it was stretched- every cent.
Our location was Little River Road. Coming from Kirks Bridge road you turn right and head down toward the Ford proving ground. Our base was situated on the bend just before the dip.
I couldn't agree with you more javascript:openWin('pop_up_profile.asp?profile=44','profile','toolbar=0,location=0,status=0,menubar=0,scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=475,height=340') . I seriously would have loved the input from guys that know their MM craft. The vehicles were provided by an action vehicle company that services the film & television industry. They built them from scratch and their resources were stretched beyond limit in just keeping them running. It very quickly became a love not money job when the black one blew a head at 11am on the first day of shooting. Given the conditions I am very happy and proud of the work they did.
But they were horrible to drive. Straight 6's and heavy tyres meant that the chicken stunt was a nightmare. We just couldn't get them to turn quickly. To get any accelleration we had to run them in 3rd at 60kph just so that we could knock them together nose to tail. Watching Mad Max on DVD I can see which of the Intercepters were the bombed out ex-taxis. Ours had a further 25 years of abuse on top of them!
The stunties had a hell of a job. The Stunt Co-ordinator was Zev Eleftheriou (CHOPPER). The black XB was driven by Russell Allan (MI2, MM3 etc) the yellow one by Lance Anderson. The best in the country, these three had me in awe most of the shoot.
Not unlike Mad Max we had our drama shooting it.
On the first day the Black XB blew its head and on the third day we were washed out as a storm blew in over the You Yangs. The big caravan stunt almost had the pin pulled on it due to a lack of light and rain on the jump ramps. 90 seconds before the saftey deadline the weather eased up just enough for us to slip it through.
As it busted through the caravan its wheels were 15 feet up and it's nose was pointing right at us. With a launch speed of 120kmph it flew 80 feet- straight toward our camera position. At the last second the saftey crew pulled us away from the camera position - that's why the focus looks a little soft on the landing. There was nobody operating it the camera at that stage. Lance corrected the car beautifully on landing and the stunt was a success.
I was casting pretty intensively for the Roop & Charlie characters. I found the 2 bald guys in a comedy skit- they work together in a series of stage shows. The day after they joined us I saw http://us.imdb.com/Name?Millichamp,+SteveSteve Millichamp in Chapel St... I just couldn't tink of how to cameo him though.
There were four versions cut. 2 safe cuts (no dye bomb) and 2 different mixes, the Apollo 440 & the orginal Australian sound mix. When I get a chance I'll compress them to a great quality quicktime and put them up on my wesite.
Being my first car chase I was pretty happy with the result. It topped the UK singles chart in January was one of the 10 most played videos on MTV and the Box. I shoot the sequel next month.
Anyway 'Addicted To Bass' Its just started recieving play in the US. You can find the EPK on the V2 label's website. http://www.v2music.com/puretone/?src=yght4 On the EPK you can see the 2 other camera angles we shot on the caravan exposion. I never used them. George Miller's angles are always the best.
