Vic Police want new "harder" uniforms
Vic Police want new "harder" uniforms
Sorry to interupt the pointless ranting but an interesting story broke here yesterday that would amuse most of you.
The Victorian Police, arguably the inspiration behind the MFP, have requested a new uniform that would give them a tougher
image on the street. Gee, i wonder what a good alternative might be? lol
Their reputation for the quick draw is enough for most people but young punks will always be young punks and the amount
of knifeing going on down here is very disterbing. Would a harder look uniform have an impact on this?, who knows. who cares,
If they wore the MFP uniforms, im there.
Heres the link to the story

Re: Vic Police want new "harder" uniforms
Hmmm...
Ok well Police in Victoria already have an "image" problem: that they shoot first and ask questions later.
But I dont think that image alone commands respect for the law.
New uniforms wont do anything unless the justice system actually dishes out real penalities instead of the slap on the wrists most crims get these days.
Criminals know that even if arrested they wont do much time or be punished harshly. So whats the point?
Frankly the Victorian Police could do with more staff and resources instead of the government wasting money on you beaut uniforms!
Look at the responce from the Police Union in Victoria the other week about the riot in Melbourne (the so-called Easternats protest). 2000 morons and Police only had apparently 100 officers available to deal with it.
Im sure flash uniforms wouldve told them to tone it down a notch!

Re: Vic Police want new "harder" uniforms
Got any pics of the present uniforms? Here in Florida, most all city cops wear dark blue and the Sheriff's office wears a forest green uniform. Highway patrol wears tan. Equipment belts are all pretty much the same. A wide Sam Brown-type belt with no shoulder strap.

I googled the Mel. 'riot' as well as Nobile Park. Is/was the EasternNats solely a 'hoon-show', or an actual sanctioned drag race/car show? What's with these "burn-out contests"?roadwarriormfp wrote:Hmmm...Look at the responce from the Police Union in Victoria the other week about the riot in Melbourne (the so-called Easternats protest)...

It was orginally I believe just a hoon type show, though it had to grow in order to be viable. I went there in 2007 and it was pretty big. The majority were there just to for the burn out comp, race their car around Sandown racetrack. But there was also a large number of cars on display as well.Soulblinder wrote:I googled the Mel. .
The riot wasnt really (by the sounds of things) anything to do with the cancellation of the event. It was used as an excuse to gather late at night by the usual crowd of jap crap street racers to cause mayhem. If it was a serious protest it woulda been done properly during the day and not under the cover of darkness.
Most of the people (idiots) shown on tv were young 20yrs old both male and female.
Flares were thrown and it went outta control.
In 2007 just months before the Easternats at Sandown a large riot with a 1000 people (idiots) occured as well. All of these were involed in street racing or were spectators. Happened late at night and video shop was trashed and robbed.
Each time some pityful excuse is given.... we are victomised, we have nothing to do, we have no where to go... whinge fu%ken whinge.. we are just "car enthusists". Then they wonder why the government and the private sector wont put up the money to hold these events.
We are 100% snafu....
Re: Vic Police want new "harder" uniforms
The VicPol image problem it not what they wear. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
That's like saying bank robbers have a bad image from wearing black balaclava's!

They look approachable and will probably integrate well into the local community. "If you want to know the time, ask a policeman".MadMaxImages wrote:These are pretty hard:
Joking aside, they would look at home on the Death Star but useless in serving the community.
