The masters have been copied to both Film and High Definition Video for preservation purposes and hopefully in the future we will also be able to preserve it in digital formats. Mel Gibson directed Apocalypto five years ago and that was filmed with digital cameras. It is strange that the MM trilogy hasn't been copied onto a digital format. The technology has been around for years.
Man, that is great news, I had a look on the NSFA website and they seem to have some great stuff from the first two films, heck even a promotional trailer for MM1 from 1982, makes me wish someone would mine them out for some special edition DVD's and Blu-Ray's.
