Dude,

That Maverick is a '79?!?! It looks just like my old '71. Mavericks only lasted until about '76 or '77 here in the US.

I always figured it to be a closet muscle car with the right equipment!

Here the last Maverick is de 79, and the last Ford Landau (a "brazillian" Lincom) is the 1983 !!! the mavericks have a diferent history here, the build start at 73, with a very old Willys 6 cil. engine (i mean very very old !) and the famous 302 V8 with a poor carburator... some people buy a Holley quadrijet carburator to put in the Mavericks, and some crazy people put a blower on it !!! hehehe... i have one too, a original 1976, but my is the "ecomomic one", have a 4 cil. 2.3 engine (the same of Mustang 2), but i change the carburator too (is a little fast now) i dont know why... but the Brazillian Ford in the 70's always put a poor carburator in yours big cars... about the mavericks here, we have 2 clubs, take a look :

http://www.maverickclubecuritiba.hpg.com.br this is the clube from my city, Curitiba.

http://www.maverickclube.hpg.com.br and this is the big one in Sao Paulo, they have more than 400 mavericks in the club ! take a look in the pictures (galerias), and look for the Maverick Batmobile (what ?) yes, a BatMaverick ! hehehe... see ya around guys !

The Charger Daytona or RoadRunner Superbird, those both tie for a 1969 shelby gt500 for us Muscle. Nobody can forget the XB GT Falcon, thats got to be the worlds tops!!!

Several come to mind....

'69 Hurst Olds 455

'68 Shelby KR500- a friend had the actual car raced in Lemans. it had two fourbarrels and sounded like danger.

'70 454 LS6 Chevelle- My cousin had one that was perfect. I mean conquors perfect. He sold it for $28,000. about ten years ago. LS6 is considered to be the highwater mark of muscle cars.

'71 454 StingRay -390 hp, 4 speed, side pipes. -another friend had this car. He would melt the tires so badly the rubber would have pebbles imbedded permanently

'77 TransAm 400 with 4 speed. Torque Torque and more torque. I had one that was geared in the high 2's and seemed to never top out. I can still hear the quadraJet moaning..

''69 429 Boss Mustang.

'87 Buick GN, Turbo 231 V6. These cars sound strange but they will make a 'vette look slow.

Looks as though you are a fan of the 70's era cars, good to see someone else who likes the 71-73 MustangsImage. I myself am a big fan of them as well, but have a soft spot in my heart for the 70-71 Torinos as well.

I'll always have a special garage in my heart for my 1973 AMC Javelin.

Of everything I've ever driven, that one fit me the best.

Funny story on that, for many years a good friend of mine swore up and down that the Black on Black was indeed a 1972 AMC Javelin with of course, many body modifications. :)

He also maintained that the Yellow Pursuit & Intercept cars were '71-'73 Mustangs altered to be 4 door sedans.

(None of us knew anything about Australian cars back then)

Hehehe. The good old days.. Image
