Should we change the name of this forum?

I was thinking that "Roadwar" no longer makes sense as the overall section name for this part of the forum. The Roadwar events are discussed here, but so are a lot of other things. And there is obviously going to be a ton of discussion about Road Warrior Weekend and other possible future get togethers.

I just think labeling the whole thing Roadwar creates some confusion and possibly causes people to bypass it when they really should be taking a look at what's going on in here.
I don't think it's all that big a deal either way, I just thought I'd suggest it. Especially now that we might get a lot of increased traffic here from all of the people at Road Warrior Weekend that never even knew madmaxmovies.com existed.

Maybe just call it "Fan Events" or "Fan Get Togethers"?

I'm down. I was OK with "Roadwar" as it seemed all-encompassing, but you make good points. "Fan Events" would be more obvious to newcomers. (But then, BTTM gets its own forum.)

Speaking of the site...I wish I'd thought to put up a big banner with the site address on it. (Actually, it should have been splashed across the literature they handed out at the gate.) My standard greeting included, "Are you on the forum?" I was talking to Joe from the MFP camp, and he wasn't even aware of the site.

Happy to rename or rearrange the forum(s) to be more appropriate, just let me know what you'd like done...

The current setup is partly historical, and partly a carry over from software I was using prior to this. Back 2 The Max had it's own forum only because it was the first event, and needed a section to be discussed. Roadwar, being the next event, then got its own forum too, because it didn't make sense to drop it in Back 2 The Max, and the old software had no easy way to rename the existing section it to a more general Events section, unlike the software now.

So I can either rename the exising Roadwar forum to be more general (and even try merging Back 2 The Max in there), or I can just create a new more general Events forum if preferred (really up to the Roadwar guys - I don't want to rename your existing forum without at least asking first).

I would put forth that since Karol (Mr ROADWAR USA) was the primary reason the event happened at all (please see his related post if you dont know the details)....
The "RWWE" would more properly be named the "RoadWar Weekend Event". It is a diffrence of three letters, and in true form Karol has been at least an inspiration, and more often a driving force in all of the Roadwar related events so far, and [IMO] can be credited for the RWWE not failing before it happened. If it is to happen again [again IMO] we NEED Karol and the RoadwarUSA connection.

Although I can see combining the B2TM and Roadwar forums into a "Fan Events" area, I think it would create at least some confusion looking back at historical threads (ie searching) as posts inteneded to be under a particular event heading would then become mixed together.

My $.02: In light of the 2 above reasons, the forums names should remain the same (or maybe "Roadwar / Fan Events" to open up for future unrelatred Max themed events, if folks truly see a need).

I don't have any strong opinions either way. But if I were to choose, I would say we should just change the name of this forum to "Events." That would be for 2 reasons:
1. Avoid confusing new members
2. Open the forum up to non-Roadwar events. (One could argue that the RWWE was technically not a "Roadwar" since it did not feature a tanker-led cruise.) Plus, we have and will continue to see events in which fans are contributing vehicles and costumes, etc to other events and corporate parties. Not to mention other Aussie events, Dragon*Con, etc.

I think B2TM can be left as it is. It's big enough to have its own forum and I'm for changing as little as possible.

I don't have strong feelings for it either. It's kinda ok the way it is, since it gives the sub-forum's description right below it. But I suppose calling it "Roadwar/Events" or "Events/Roadwar" might be more accurate and less confusing to new members. Or just plain "Events".

A agree with Karol. How about we change it to just "Events", and then the line underneath can read "Roadwar, Road Warrior Weekend, DragonCon etc." And I agree with leaving the Back 2 The Max section as is.

Im happy for the names to stay the way they are, as the roadwars to me is related to the USA with the Road Warrior event an offshoot of that...

and back2themax is in australia and any other event in aussie land...

But i must say i first called the road warrior event the roadwars event due to the main page being called roadwars, other people did the same
as some said to me in california...
