... the TOTAL lack of any response from the initial organizer made my decision to skip the event altogether and make other plans.

Hey March, that was the same reason that I didn't attend either.I will always regret not going, but was too worried about it being a bust because of Scarlet's complete lack of interest or response to any attempts of contact.Bill

i would just like to say i know there were a few hiccups with the event organization, i saw this 1st hand being there. although i wont critizise anyone
as it was a succesfull event, and at anytime i could ask the 3 organizers anything and they were curtious in there responce, and didnt have the shits
like organizers of other events iv seen in the past.

Karol is the man for the job as i dont think the event would have been succesfull without him and if it wasnt succsesfull i would have wasted $6000
attending and traveling as far as i did, i took a risk that i was well aware of, and would have just made the best and met the guys anyway.
if i had only 5 or 8 hours drive to get there for a look id rather that, thats peanuts.
Most events are yearly but with an event like this every 2 years lets everyone gear up for it and make a big effort.

my vote is 2 years. but then jarred made a point of making the most out of madmax 4 in the making, great idea and i think his got a point.
im just glad at one thing, im not Karol and have to make that decision...

ill be back, iv started saving and i havnt been back a week yet...

I dont think without Karol the event would have happened at all. He is definately the man for the job, and I do not envy him having to decide the question at hand, anual or bi-annual.

i did my impromptu poll as i had the card signed and throughout the weekend. the MAJORITY want to do it again and prefer every other yr especially after i pointed out the pros and cons.theres a list of who attended, just contact each attendee and tally the results.like i read in previous posts, those in cali want to and can do it every yr.i would make every effort to do it again next yr but.....in the long run does that wear thin trying to manage finances to do this every yr?!i understand about the buzz being alive now but,i dont think mad max fans lose their love of the movies at all. my interest has been steady for 27 yrs and hasnt wavered one iota.i think it would INCREASE enthusiasm to create and plan more extravagant costumes, vehicles etc for a bi annual event.i may have 2nd vehicle done before next oct but will i b able to afford to come out?al and kaz,who were a big part of our event defintely cant make it every yr.i know if i lived in cali i would want it every freakin day!!!!!there r fans in the northeast, south etc that may b enticed to travel regularly if it doenst become a blase common event.we need to b better organized and get confirmed attendees and plan everything out.i am willing to help out ANY way possible.i dont want to come off sounding selfish but this event felt personal with how i've lived my life the past 27 yrs and i want this to continue to b special and need to b there EVERY time.

Just a thought... Assuming we did have the event every year, (or I guess this would apply to biannual as well) I wonder how many fans would be willing to chip in for gas money for those driving replica vehicles across long distances? I know I would. And I think others would too.

The really good replica vehicles are very important to this event and many fans would chip in extra to get them there - not just to help out fellow fans and to see these cool cars up close, but also to have something great to pose in front of for our photos.
We tried to help Dave get his Humongous machine out here at the last minute and I think there was a few hundred dollars on the table overnight. And that was just the folks on this board, not the wider myspace group. It didn't end up working out, but I think it showed that the will was there to lend a hand to help defray costs.

Just something to think about.

Karol, first off thanks for getting the event together, my friends and I had a blast.

I vote for having it in the upcoming year, partly because I want to do it again sooner, but also because so many of my friends who heard about it or saw the photos have said they want to go if there is one next year. I think there is buzz and if we could do another one in 2010 it could potentially be much bigger, strike while the iron is hot. Having it annually or bi-annually after that would be based on whether attendance warrants it, but I think the next one will be huge.

I understand the people who didn't attend because they felt that the myspace page wasn't getting updated, the organizer was ignoring them and a lot was left to the last minute, I had reservations as well. I will say that the people who did attend were really into it and it was a great time.

I'm new to the forum but I think we should have it again next year then go every 2 years. Like was said earlier a lot of people heard about it when we all got back and want to go if we have one next year. If you wait 2 years to have the next one people my loose interest. But I had a great time and have a bunch of buddies who wanted to go but they were all in Afghanistan for this one and would definitely go to the next one. Doing one next year would be huge I think.
