I've seen an articulated vehicle drop a trailer in a lorry yard here in England.

It was a 40 tonne lorry. The driver backed into the trailer, raised the legs but forgot to secure the pin. Then he drove across the yard and started to make a turn, his cab drove in the direction he wanted to go, the trailer detached and went in another direction.

Dropping that trailer took no time at all.

Just wanted to ask: Is a Ford Falcon XB coupe really fast enough to beat a Kawasaki Z 1000 A1? Even with the blower? My one was very fast. I reached 220 kilometers/hours with the fairing and the genuine exausters and carburators on it.
I could probably make it on my own, but I like you kids.

No way! Even back then. The Z's sure did no handle (amazed that that cameraman was on the back during "Goose's Wild Ride") in that era, but they went like stink! Musclecar-guys HATE bikes 'cause'a their power/weight ratio...

Just to interject a few points here:

At the end of MM2 Max and the Gyro-captain meet up with the tribe, this would confirm Max knew about a rendezvous point.

It's apparently very tricky to remove the pin from a trucks fifth wheel unless it's stopped and aligned straight with the trailer. Although I would have thought a release could have been engineered during the trucks modification.

Making the turn would have made Max very vulnerable, the truck would have been very slow and cumbersome compared to the marauding vehicles. As a tactical battle move it seems crazy to me. His odds were best by just keeping momentum. Imo he needed a good reason to make that turn, either because it was a key part of the plan, he needed to make the meeting point or something else like no more passable road.

I believe the others would have known the odds of survival were very low, however to ensure the decoy would be successful the truck needed as much protection as it could get. This is one of the most moving aspects of the story as without their bravery the plan may not have worked.

Is it possible that Max turned around because it was the LAST thing he thought the bad guys would do? Just for arguments sake here, but Max was a policeman and as our hero he is smarter than the average bear, so why not turn around just to confuse the hell out of everyone.

I wonder if it's ever been talked about by George Miller in any interviews. Great question by the way!

Some fucking assholes on IMDB claim the Marauders at the end did NOT see any sand flowing from the tanker (after the big crash)... so why the fuck did they refuse to assault the crashed tanker and steal the juice?
Bullshits.

I think someone made the point earlier that Max would not have known about the rendezvous point and I agree, he came out of conciseness as the final orders where being gone over by the group.

How did he get to the rendezvous point? How can you all forget his (Max) quirky smile as the gyro captain turns up at the tanker crash site? :) The gyro captain would have been at the briefing, known the orders and the rendezvous /meeting place.

It is he, (Gyro Captain) who is driving the bus as it pans to the Feral kid as the last words are spoken as the convey makes it way north!

The gyrocopter was broken and all three, max, Ferral kid and gyro made it to the rendezvous in the motor Pagagello was killed in. Max is seen standing next to it right at the end and in the opening hazy shots as the now old Ferral kids speaks.

Simples!

Max was played like Yo-Yo Ma's cello. When he sees sand pouring out of the tanker, he gets this "What the f**k?" frown on his face. Then when Gyrocaptain rolls up, Max kind of smiles, as if to say "Yeah, you got me. I had it coming". It kind of shows he's getting himself back a little.
When Pappagallo is talking, while Max is waking up, doesn't he say something like "..200 miles north of here is a place with a bridge.."? Isn't this where the rendezvous is? Whether or not Max knew the tanker was a decoy, if he knew about the rendezvous, maybe he thought he could plow through whatever Marauders were left and just outlast them, fuel-wise.
