Greetings from the Wasteland

Post by MaxMFP09 »

I just spend a day at the Road Warrior Weekend in California and thought I would share some of my pics. I considered the vehicle in this shot the best Road Warrior Themed vehicle of the event.

Here's a couple of other shots from the event. I think Tony was very happy he went through the effort of making up his yellow Camaro based Interceptor, especially during the photo session below.

The Road Warrior Weekend really was a fun event. A LOT of people in some pretty damn amazing costumes. Virginia Hey was a delight and Vernon Wells was as entertaining as ever. It was really a shame I couldn't stay for the entire event. But what I did experience was a ball!

I got back a little while ago, just woke up from a power nap. I was one of the volounteer MFP guards. Couldn't afford to buy tickets, and all. I had to take care of some business, but it was all fun and I had a blast!
Met some of the folks from this board, (Ziggy, Nfp gasmask, cruzn2the max and his wife, Jwrites, and Karol) also met Scarlett and a bunch of her mad pirate friends.
I didn't take a camera, but I can see the pictures are already starting to flow. You guys will be in for a treat.
It's a real shame HUMVEE driver and MFP1 couldn't make it, the car show wasn't complete without them. Jersey Tony's interceptor and the BoB stole the show, as the above pictures already indicate.

Friday night was mostly me working at the gate/parking, but I got to watch the end of Mad Max, and take in the sights and hung out at the Atomic Cafe before retiring to try and sleep in my car. (Damn you, ravers!)

Saturday was awesome!I helped with the car show sign ups, worked the gate some more, went to the Q&A with Vernon and Virginia. Karol had gotten Emil Minty to record a message that they played at the end.
Didn't get any autographs  but I talked to Vernon as he was leaving.
Back to the gate, but pretty much everyone was already here. Then went back for the screening of The Road Warrior, then had to go tear down the admission tent, since it was late and they stopped taking entrants at 6 PM. Just had to keep an eye out for trouble the rest of the night.
Overall, everyone was well behaved, besides the litterbugs, and the looky-loo off-roaders who kept wandering by.

Spent the rest of the night hanging out with Karol, Gabrielle and Chris. Got executive orders from Scarlett herself to tell the ravers to turn their shitty music down at 1 am becasue they're too close to the tents & RVs and people were heading to bed 'cough' but mostly because it sucked ass and was really loud. I swear they almost cried, "But I thougt we had until 2!"

After that I headed to bed, when got up in the morning I hung around for a bit, said my goodbyes and headed home.

Glad to hear you had a great time! I'm just waiting for more stories and pictures...

I talked with cruzn2the max not too long ago, was that ever cool. I hear there may be another Weekend Event in two years...

Also, I was crying to myself over my plight, and I realized: at least my truck didn't crap out on me in the middle of nowhere. Now THAT would have sucked! I guess there is a silver lining to everything.
