But in Europe by the time you've changed up through the gearbox, your in another country, that why they only have 2ltr cars. That and the small streets. We'd call them sewer lanes, but they call them streets.

Actually they have 2l cars because gas cost about $6 a gallon over there. So as the statement said either rich or stupid is fairly accurate.

Small streets? Don't say that to soon. Because Europe is a bit more compact doesn't mean we haven't got a lot of rijkswegen (for you comparable to interstates) and highways. I've owned a few 2ltr's and ran them flat out for longer times (200 ~ 220 km/h) Even most of the maximum allowed speeds over here in Europe are speed violations in the US. And we still drive to fast.
But the gas prices over here are ridiculous high.

People are going to hate me years from now... When everyone is driving electric cars, and I still drive a V8. Guess I'll have to educate them on how much carbon dioxides / spent uranium those electric cars of them cost to manufacture and charge. I am willing to bet that you'll have to drive the same electric car for some obscene amount of years before you start becoming truly green. They are instantly good for the wallet when it comes to gas though, and I feel THAT should be the selling point. Not the environmentally friendly bullcrap.

Besides, just 12% of all pollution is from automobiles. I the rest is dirty factories and such. And I look to China and Africa for a lot of "contribution" to the "pollution" on that part. No "smoggers" in their factory chimneys due to strict regulations, that's for sure.

And compared to the USA Holland does have small streets and highways... It's a fact. Also a fact is that the highways in Holland are way better, but sadly they are littered with the so called "struikrovers". Civilians that get trained to operate radar speed equipment which takes a picture with your speed and sends a nice little ticket to you. I averaged at least 2 a year. Here I've been lucky enough never to get a speeding ticket.

And the sad thing is, that this damn radar speed equipment is invented here in The Netherlands. I've been a victim a lot of times by those mobile and stationary bottomless money pits. I even have the CJIB data already listed in the address book of my Internet banking. I only have to fill in the amount I have to pay and the payment data and click send. (CJIB means Centraal Justitieel Incasso Bureau. Translated that is Central Fine Collection Agency).

;) 'At's bullshit, 'Walker. I feel for you. We don't have that (Gatzos) here in the States, yet... Just red-light-cameras poppin' up everywhere. I ride my gsxr1100+ on the street and (cross fingers) have not had a ticket/citation in 12-years (the grey hair and "Yes, officer, Sir", helps). Does the CJIB assess points/other detriments, or just monetary fines?

I stayed in Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the early-'60s and was amazed at the small, tight streets around the canals. Nice place, though...

As far as I know the CJIB only collect the fines. I don't know since how long but the people that get there license now are starting with a point system. Above a certain amount of points you lose your drivers license again (if I'm correct) Thank god I've never had such a license.
If you want to read something about the CJIB.

And those canal streets are over a few hundred years old. In those days there weren't any cars and the canals were dug mainly for the transport of cargo.

It just occurred to me that the title of this thread is a play on a line from Mad Max that's only in the American version. The non-Americans probably didn't get it. Speaking of which, see my sounds thread.

Looking at my last electricity bill, i'd have to disagree with you  i'll bet in ten years, stealing electricity will become the next big 'scourge on society'.
