Having seen Mad Max 2 in 35mm several times over the years, I gotta say, I just don't think the original film stock holds that much more resolution. All the grain and limitations you see in the low light shots (Max Escaping the compound, etc) are pretty much just as grainy on film. I don't know that there is that much more to be picked up from the source material, no matter how much more you spend doing a transfer.

Well probably not with a simple transfer, but with today's post-production tools, even a novice Flame artist could clean up those horrid grainy shots,
for a fraction of the ads & marketing costs of the Blue ray's release, hence the rant.

Well that's the thing...I'm not sure it's been remastered.... at all
Not having the original blue ray on hand, I can't be totally sure about this...
But talking about ridiculously grainy, here's one shot you may recognize
I reckon that even a minimum wadge graphic artist on after-effects could clean it up better

Is this picture reversed? (the chase) When the interceptor is towed into the compund, the left front corner is missing and the right is still there. But in this picture the damage is reversed???

Yes, most certainly, I just checked some other shots, and the remaining panel is on the driver's side, beside you can see the supercharger's pulley is leaning way too much to the right of the vehicle (our left)

In any case, the rest of the film looks a lot better, from what I've seen. Still, why haven't they tried to clean the film up - at least a little - before now? Yeesh.

Wow! I never even noticed the girl with the miniskirt and the machete before. Or that guy with the purple priest scarf on!
With this extra detail maybe somebody will attempt to replicate some of these obscure costumes (and if you do, make sure to post about it over in the costumes and props section of the forum)
