I've noticed that in some shots, the demon bike has scooter-style leg guards and in others it doesn't. In some shots the demon is pristine; in others (like the promo shots) it has rust or paint across the face. All of which, coupled with the changing artwork on the cars, lends credence to my (heretofore secret) theory that vehicles were changed around and repainted to give the illusion of more vehicles than there were.

Yes they certainly changed some of the details on cars from shot to shot.

Given that I'm currently working on my screen accurate MM2 costume right now there are a ton of requests I'd like to make, but I'll narrow it down to just two for now so I don't burn you out (yet).
I'm looking for the shot of his shotgun on the ground when he backs away from it while first meeting the gyrocaptain, and a shot of him hoisting his tool belt in the air when he carries the dying man into the compound (one that gives us a look at that weird little leather loop he has at the end of his hydrant spanner tool)

I'll attach my low res versions of the shots so you'll know what I'm looking for.
You're doing a great service to us fans. Many of us have had screenshot collections for a long time, and to have them finally refreshed with HD versions is fantastic.
By the way, if it's a pain for you to attach the images here, feel free to email me them instead - that way they could be even higher res too : )

Ok...then...
As for more rez, well the pngs are about 2 to 3 megs each, but don't pack really more rez
What i do will converting them is getting rid of the black frame, and I never go further than a 7 compression on Photoshop to attain the board's limit
Most of the time they're at 9 or 8 which is close to losless

Not sure what you mean by the two bladed hunter's knife. You might be referring to the silver multitool he carries (it's the one that has a can opener on it that he uses to open the can of Dinki-Di). It's most commonly known as a yachtsman's rigging knife. It has two pocket knife sized blades, a can opener, and a boatswain's spike. Say, OP - or anyone else who might have a copy - would you be able to provide screenshots of the ambush on Max, after he leaves the compound? The standard DVD is just ridiculously grainy, and I was wondering what this remastered version looked like.

Well that's the thing...I'm not sure it's been remastered.... at all
Not having the original blue ray on hand, I can't be totally sure about this...
But talking about ridiculously grainy, here's one shot you may recognize
I reckon that even a minimum wadge graphic artist on after-effects could clean it up better
