australian muscle cars

I notice in the latest 'Australian Muscle Cars' magazine (issue 2), that a former Bathurst winning Falcon Coupe is featured, running in Sports Sedan with the interceptor nosecone. looks pretty mean.

You mean "looked" pretty mean. If you read the story you will see that the car was stolen in 1983, then stripped and burnt.

Hey toecutter (if that IS your real name), glad to see you managed to get a copy of the magazine in Botswana so fast!

That was a pretty good pic, I wasn't even sure that I was even going to buy the current issue until I came across that. Such a pity that the car was subsequently vandalised and destroyed. It really is amazing when you look back at that time period, it seems there were quite a few show cars and vans around with the Arcadipane front fitted. There are virtually none of those vehicles around now - it makes you wonder what ever happened to them all.

well botswana is really just a state of mind...

i recall an arcadipane concord front in a 'spoiler shop' in camberwell in the late 80's. I imagine a fair few were sold, yeah, where do they go ? I also recall camaro nosed panel vans etc, that used to be featured regularly in 'custom vans and trucks' etc. I do know a guy who has oen of those (the one piece camaro cone for a hq-wb) hanging in teh roof of his shed, i wonder how glass holds up over the years.

That's exactly what I mean - there used to be HEAPS of these custom vehicles in magazines like Custom Vans & Trucks, where did they all go? Some of the pictures scattered around the web page were taken from precisely these magazines. Did everyone just dismantle them again after the van craze was over? Plenty of material there for AMC's "missing in action" page.
