Dune Buggy
Dune buggy ?
Although not a film replica, when I first got this vehicle it reminded me so much of the dune buggies in Mad Max 2. It is very similar in looks and a lot of people think it is from the film – which it is not. It is in fact an Ex British Army former SAS Light strike vehicle, veteran of the first gulf war 1990/91.
I love driving it “off road” and it has an awesome performance. In 2003, I meet a chap who also got one and sprayed it all black, making it look even more Mad Max like – very good job. It now has a new owner and is back in desert scheme again.
Just thought I would post out of interest.
I just joined the forum, love the web site, good job. Nice to see and “meet” other Mad max fans.
Cheers

A nice ride, Kid. And very appropriate for the MM world. No one ever said that post-apocalypse vehicles all had to be civilian models. I'd imagine that more then a few "liberated" military vehicles would be pressed into use.

Re: Dune Buggy
Here are some shots with us dressed up Mad Max style in the vehicles at this year War and Peace show.
Top picture - LSV with two mohawkers and a bad cop driving.
Niddle - Prisoner tied to the front of the LSV,2 bad cops and a mohawker, Wez and the golden youth on a dirt bike. Note Chris (Golden youth) swinging his pick axe handle. The cross bow on the forarm works, we made 5 working ones for others as well.
Bottom - "greeting from the humongus". 2 LSV Buggies, an Ex SAS Pinkie as the humongus wagon (It was the only vehicle we had with an open cab and a roll bar for Toady to hang on too) and a couple of dirt bikes. This was our first gathering in costume. Great fun.

Re: Dune Buggy
Thanks for the comments chaps - I stuck some more pictures in a thread under Back 2 the Max under "mad to the Max at this years War and Peace show". It would be fantastic to have something like the Raod war event here in GB? All of us were knocked out by the response we got. there is clearly a lot of good feelings assosiated with this classic and fantastic film - MM2? We all want to play again with the vehicles and the costumes - we had such a great time. I guess there is nothing over here that even comes close to Road war?
I would love to get to that event...so much?
I am playing with the video footage and will post some on Youtube as and when I get round to it. Got a short video of us lot playing around with a boomerang at the show uploading right now.
The costumes only took 3 of us to make about 2 and a bit months. We had such a good time making and wearing them. Took a lot of inspiration from this web site - MAdMaxMovies - it is just great.
Here is the URL if you want to see us silly sods playing with boomerangs going Mad to the Max - ? Please post comments there or here?

Nice meeting you had there. Everyone still got all of their fingers
