OK ... so the front page is just a sting with a pic of Mel and refers readers to P3 where there is an article plus the same pic of Mel and a pic of the stunt car.
A couple of factual errors ... research is a dead art ... but at least there's a quote form Peter Barton.
When I get home I'll scan and post the article.
In the meantime it's availble online at ...

Looks as though a fab time was had by all !

Re: Back 2 the Max makes frontpage of Sydney Morning Herald!
Thanks for the link - the article is not too bad, they interviewed me for a while, and I tried my best to give them all the correct answers - probably just a little hard to absorb and get it all down correctly in one hit. The budget and gross figures they obviously pulled from somewhere else - they didn't quiz me on those details, and they obviously don't match what is here on the web site, so not sure where they came from. Would have been nice if they could have got the web site link correct as well... oh well! Still a good article, and there has been some great coverage of the event overall.
One other point of note, mentioned in this article and some other media - NONE of the organisers were "disappointed" that Mel or certain others weren't there. I think every media piece has coveraged the absence of Mel as their opening line, I assume his mention is primarily due to the celebrity factor, but this was never the point of view of any of the organisers. Obviously anyone we had a contact for was informed of the event, and many of these guys did actually respond back to us and send their apologies and wish us well - but everyone realises the difficulty it would pose for certain people to get there. Not to mention the absolute security nightmare it would have caused - even as it was, the guys with the recognisable on screen faces were swamped by fans at various points, and I just can't say enough how appreciative we were of these guys to make themselves available like that for autographs and photos and so on to anyone who asked. A lot of these guys really put themselves out there for the fans, which they did not have to do at all, but it was fanastic to see.

I for one am not upset that Mel didn't bother to consider a showing, for many true hardcore fans the best guys were present, being the Nightrider, Roop, feral, Starbuck & the most famous guy in bike circles & father of "the mad maxxy donut" Dale.....
& all the actors, stunters & crew present made it an absolutly awesome weekend for everyone there.
Murray & Dennis are two guys who did some the most well known builds & stunts around & it's an absolute honour to know them.
I actually believe it would have been detrimental if Mel had been there, as it was aimed at true fans- not the ones that only come out to see "names" etc.
I say a huge pat on the back to all involved, especially the guys that worked amazingly hard to have their replica cars, van, bikes there on time, paticularly the ones that had to make a long distance trip
Hat's off to you all & a big thanks from myself, Nifty & Paul & the rest of the "Noisy fans on the front table"
