MM2: Where did Max keep his combat knife?
It wasn't on his tool belt, AFAIK.

It was in his boot.

Yeah, he had a dagger in his boot, but I remember him using a bigger knife when he was about to off the gyro captain.

Nope, that was the same knife. Each time he uses it you can see him take it out/put it in his boot.

The knife was a Gerber Mk2 with a thumb-break sheath. I'm not sure if they're still in production or not.

Okay, just one knife then. Good to know. Thanks!
EDIT: I'm now rewatching it and it's more than obvious...

Armourer, I just going to state the obvious and say that you certainly deserve your name.
Since I read that, I've been trying to track down a Gerber Mk2. How did you determine that is the knife? Can anyone set up some comparison pictures? Not that I am doubting you; I am just VERY big on being authentic. Especially if I'm going to drop some big bucks on this knife, which it looks like I will have to.
By the way, what exactly is a thumb-break sheath? Is it just what I think it is: a sheath where you can use your thumb to like open the snap or whatever?
Thanks,
HUMVEE Driver

Re: MM2: Where did Max keep his combat knife?
It's definately a Gerber MKII. It's the same style of knife used by Hudson in Aliens.
Remember the infamous "Do the thing with the knife" trick?
The MKII hasn't been in active production by Gerber since the late 1980s,
and was manufactured as far back as the Vietnam war.

The Gerbers were sold with two styles of scabbards, a nylon version, and
the leather version in the picture.
The picture makes it look small, but it's actually 14 inches long from the
tiedown tip of the scabbard to the end of the belt hooks.
The blade itself is 6.75 inches in length. If you look at the scenes where Max
pulls the knife on the Gyro Captain, you can make out the telltale serrations
midway down the length of the blade.

Yep, I remember Drake messing with Hudson...
Good stuff.
I've been searching for a Gerber of my own now. Pricey. But I'll get one.

OK when the end of the world hits, I get first dibs on Rook3 and The Armourer being in my gang OK?
Just thought I'd be the one to say it first so no one else can claim either of them later.
I think I just about trebled my chances of survival (dust hands in satisfaction)
