Sydney - you've been warned.

Post by Wrinkles »

....Wrinkles is coming to town.

This short fat ugly bloke from the country is heading to the big city to marvel at such things as automatic doors, traffic lights, 7-11's, and a little event at Eastern Creek........

http://www.chevron.com.au/musclecar_masters.html

Myself and 5 mates will be flying in Friday Aug 31, flying out Monday Sep 3, to take on this great annual event. It's generally promoted as being just the Sunday, but there's activities on the Saturday as well.

If anybody here shares my passion for such an event, and is planning on heading along for a look, feel free to give me a buzz at some point across the weekend, and we'll see if we can't perhaps have a beer or 27. ...0428 824 917.

Oh, and for those who may be interested - I sold my XB GT. ...it's heading to Perth.

I'm washing my hair that weekend ...

But seriously folks ... I went along to the MC masters last year and had a great day ... even better to share the day with some Max nuts. My only concern is that I'm desperately trying to get my Goss ready for the Hardtop Anniversary at Echuca in late September and it will depend on how much I get done.

Hope to be there.

In the lead-up to the XB going, a lot of people asked me if I was sad. I shrugged it off, and didn't really think it would bother me.

Today, I kicked her in the guts for one last time, and I felt a bit sad. As I warmed it up, I reflected on happy times spent with "the old red car". ....yeah, ok... so perhaps this WAS a sad moment... but no big deal.

As it was being "restrained" to the trailer, I almost got a little emotional, but held it together. I didn't watch it drive away. I turned and walked back to my house.

Driving back to work, I caught up with the truck. .....that was the point where I must've got a bit of dirt in my eye or something. ......yes, I shed a tear. Bloody big girl!

I watched as the old red car disappeared down the highway, strapped to a trailer, destination Perth.

How can a car cause such emotion? bloody mongrel things!

....but we must move on. ...and I pick up my EL GT on Saturday. that'll make up for it.

Boy Wrinkles...for someone who looks like they'd rather get into a brawl than talk to you, you sure have a soft inside...GT's...Airports...need Visine to keep the red out? We won't tell anyone.

It's OK, I did the same when my "Blues Brothers" Gran Fury went to the crusher...a lot of "firsts" in that car...

I can relate...9-18-03...Black Thursday. That's when the w**ker in his little Dodge Omni turned left and I did a re-enactment of the BoB/Landau scene...looking like Eric Banas front end in the aftermath. I drove it home and sat on the floor staring at the damage for almost an hour. It went from a Dreamtime vision to a piece of metal/glass/rubber...but the enthusiasm is coming back and I have no issues with cutting into her now.

Wrinkles,

mate, dont ask me, I just got here!

I just arrived back in Aus 4 days ago, after 2 years in the UK. I currently dont have an aussie phone or anywhere to stay other than my folks but I'd love to catch up again for a beer. Been a long time since back 2 the max.

Once I have my stuff sorted in a week or 2, I'll give you a call. No doubt a few other Sydney siders will be there for a beer!
