True. A replica SHOULD be built from a Falcon.

Problem being, Importing a Falcon is going to be a nearly impossible step for many (most?) of us. Hard enough finding and affording a Mustang or a Torino, AND affording the engine and body mods. Add on to that the additional costs of Importing the car and whatever parts the vehicle needs now AND for the rest of your ownership.

OUCH!!! I think I could build a Interceptor INFLUENCED Mustang or Torino or whatever for what? Ten to Fifteen thousand dollars? The best candidate I've seen for a Falcon here in the States will cost Twelve to Eighteen thousand JUST FOR THE CAR!

I'm also told that some cities and/or states require special permits for right hand drive cars. So you'd have to either get the permit or modify the car for left hand drive.

Maybe it would be a better Idea for all of us that want an interceptor to move to Wollengong, or Melbourne, or Sydney. (Don't like hot weather myself. Ya got anywhere that's COLD???)

..................ROB SAYS........................

thats bogus....and it is because of the attitude that you and others show, that there are not more cars being built.just the sight of my replicar, which is NOT a falcon,or torino, will cause traffic jams...and most people cannot tell the difference, unless you are a dedicated fan...and why the slam attack on us yanks???i don`t remember talking trash about aussie people...or their cars...if it was`nt for them,we would`nt even have the movies...the money thing is indeed very important...my car cost me 2000,plus cost of bodywork, and i still need the nose----( NEED-HELP !!??!! )...even if not an accurate /clone-who cares??....at least i have a car that looks like it,and don`t have to import, convert to left hand drive,EPA-it,or any of that foolishness..as there are hundreds of mad max fans over here in the US-(yankeeville),i really don`t think there are that many good AUSSIE bodies left to spread around anyways...and i am not going to post pics of my car, just so people such as yourself can pick it apart, and talk trash because it`s not the RIGHT" car body...i did not build it to be PERFECT,but to enjoy....i wish you could understand that...TO ALL THE "OTHER" AUSSIE PEOPLE,THANX FOR YOUR HELP,I COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU---AND CONGRATULATIONS TO PETER AND FAMILY--BEST WISHES...

Yanks? Are you from America? Obviously not. Yankees were the northerners in the Confederate War...over 100 years ago. Why the heck is that name still used? Call us Americans or something.

How about Sault Ste. Marie, MI in the Upper Peninsula? During the winter the temperatures can get to less than 5 degress F.

Our summers are probably as hot as yours but we have a lake (Lake Superior) nearby if you need to cool off :-)

well, well, well i certainly used the right bait their didn't i.i have nothing against americans or their street machines but lets face facts if an interceptor replica is not built from a falcon it just aint a black on black is it.it is a street machine INFLUENCED by the greatest movie ever made(not a replica).leave the torinos, mustangs and whatever you think looks like a falcon to web pages dedicated to such cars and leave madmax sites devoted to madmax.

Y'know, this got me thinking....

I've seen lots of video footage on TV of Star Trek conventions. Before you roll your eyes, here me out. A lot of people come dressed as different characters from the movies and TV shows, yet they all look a little different. Not everyone who comes dressed as a Klingon looks exactly alike. But they are all diehard Trekkies just the same.

Another illustration, if I may....

When a rock-n-roll band does a cover of another rock-n-roll band's song, it never sounds exactly like the original. Sometimes it sounds better, sometimes it sucks. But the reason they do it is because they love the original enough to want to put their own spin on it. Two musicians will often play the same piece of music two different ways. It's all in the interpretation.

If a bunch of Americans want to pay homage to their favorite movie the best way they can with what they have to work with, I say let 'em! As far as I'm concerned, any well built muscle car that shows appreciation for the craft of car building and for car movies, Mad Max included, is O.K. with me.

'nuff said.
