Non-Max related, but I just want some opinions

Post by Mad Wood »

I'm going to be 16 in may. That means in June, I can drive. Except I don't start my job until the end of may, so I won't be able to get a cool car for a while. So I came up with an idea of buying stock. The thing is, I don't know what to buy. I was wondering if any one of you could make any suggestions that you think would do good in the market. I need money. money+june 9th= really good/fast car. HELP...

your parents have probably already told you this, and you dont want to listen, as you think they are wrong?

but any way, coming from some one whos been there, didnt listen and done it, my advice to you is buy a small 4 cylinder car (FORD CAPRI,ESCORT,CORTINA) keep it in running order, and spend what is neccessary on it, IE, no big stereos, fat wheels and tyres, sports steering wheels etc, just leave it standard, and save your pennys, and because it is a 4 cyl, your bucks are not going down the fuel tank, then you will have more money to save, and by the time you have saved enough for a good decent V8 Ford, you would have thrashed that 4 cyl around and hopefully learnt by some mistakes you will make once you have your licence, and if you damage a 500.00 bunky in the fisrt few months, it wont matter as much as if you had damaged your INTERCEPTOR replica or the like!

happy hunting,

: happy hunting,

I agree. Learn the ropes in a slower, more expendable car. My first car was a '76 V-6 Mercury Capri (don't laugh, please) In retrospect, probably a little too hot for a 16 year old. I beat the crap out of it, wrecked it once (fixed it) and later, moved up to the fastest I've ever driven (in sixteen years), my Javelin.

(A quick note: I've driven Porches, Jaguars, Fords Chevys, Dodges, and others)

You'd be surprised at the skills you can learn trying to compete with your musclecar driving aquantences in a VW Scirocco (A slow, but decent car, by the way. Except for electrical, and cooling)

: I third that! My first car was an 82 Mitsubishi Sigma , it wasnt really what i wanted but the old man was helping me purchase the car and it was in A1 condition so i was appreciative and cause i was living in the sticks at the time an economical car that was reliable was a priority, but anyways i learnt a bit in that car, i banged it up a few curbs sideways in the wet and smacked it up the arse end of a Subaru ( was looking at a miniskirt :( ~ ).

After 12 months and with a bit of experience up my sleeve i got my V8 Falcon XC and I was much better off for waiting and had a bit more respect for the power I wielded and was a little more aware of actions and consequences, BUT I STILL GAVE IT SHIT!!! YEAH BABY!!!!
