No one said the UN was good..... It certainly doesnt do its job in many respects.

However Iraq was never a "just" war.... there was no justification.... no "real" one.. only the ones shoved down our throats by our alledged leaders....

Yes i agree that are some good intensions there among those who go there... however... for all the good they do.... one stupid act makes the population turn on you very quickly.....

And there has been many a stupid act carried out....

The money grubbing companies involved in this so-called private war are also a very sore point with me.... how can one privatise a war ?!?!?!

The whole thing is a sham.....

I know wars will always occur.... its our nature.... but Iraq certainly takes the cake for stupidity at all levels.... and on boths sides....

Hey Rw Mfp, I read an article about the so-called private war the other day, you never hear much about all the US funded private armys in Iraq eh. I'll see If ive got the link...

http://www.smh.com.au/news/opinion/home ... 87497.html

kinda scary all these US funded private armys, the coalitions soldiers, islamic warlords armys, iraqui police any al queda fighters all drawn to the conflict.

not a nice place with all those people fighting amongst or with each other!!!

Putting a positive slant on all of this, what the hell can we do?

I reckon the first thing is to get angry enough to want to make a difference. (get informed and educated)

The second thing is actually make that difference

Ive benefited from the current governments economic policy. However I'm angry enough to put aside my traditional allegiance to them (conservative governments) and vote the other lot in.

I just dont care anymore about my personal gain. I cant stand watching these people lie, defend the indefensible, give money to their business owning buddies whilst ripping off the tax-payer in the street.

The UK, US and Aus once had a good name as beacons of trust and admiration in the world. Now we are exposed as hypocrites of the worst order. invading and killing to feed our SUV's, flat screens and air conditioner power needs.

So come voting time, I will make my vote count.

I agree that the UN is a bloated corrupt slow moving body but it is meant to check and balance any dangerous activity by its members. Since weve now weakened it, what on earth are we going to do next?

I am not giving up my SUV, flat screen, and going to the local titty bar, because of a few cockroaches.

An interesting quote from the past....

"Naturally, the common people don't want war, but after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country."

Not everyone owns a 'SUV' or a 'flat screen tv' I agree that the war in Iraq is bullsh*t,but lets not kid ourselves and think it was some paradise where everyone held hands and sang 'Kumbaya' before The USA and the Coalition forces arrived. We were once respected because we all could hide our dark patss much better before .But now with everyone becoming smarter even in 3rd world countries and everyone owning a computer now the 'dirty laundry' in our countries is being aired out much more than before.Things nowadasy aren't so black & white anymore. Its not the USA and USSR anymore.pegging whos the 'bad guy'out there isn't so easy.and sometimes you have to be the asshole before your the'hero' I wish people here would stop thinking that war was just now invented.I'm in no way glorfying it,but am just saying its always been a part of mankind and it we'll sadly always have it in some way or fashion.

did I mention that we are no longer at war with Oceania, we are now at war with EastAsia...

We always have been you unpatriotic fools...

If you don't know what this means, look up "1984" and see what you can find.

Hey Bart, I honestly agree with what you're saying that no country has clean hands.

But if one particular country is going to act like it somehow does and is better than the rest to the point of forcing itself on others at gunpoint, thats kind of hypocritical eh?

Apparently they even claim their so called "God" is on their side. You know, the god that endorses corruption, torture, kidnapping, stealing oil, etc etc...

At least we agree on something!

strangely enough.... as a teenager... (and even know...)... aviation and especially military aviation always had me reading up as much as possible. Those blurry cold war snap shots of the latest Migs or Su's used to keep happy for days on end....!

Nowadays, if i had the money i could buy a 2nd hand one for almost next to nothing!
