Pixar's "CARS"...

Post by Chase Bansi »

My 5 year old daughter and I saw Cars this weekend. I'm sure I enjoyed it more than she did. It was great to hear the voices of Richard Petty, Dale Jr, Mario Andretti, Micheal Shoemaker, and other real drivers. I was impressed that outside of the faces moving, the cars seemed solid and rigid framed. Of peticular note was the sence of weight from the ol' Doc Hudson sliding thru the turns.

Hey Bronze, my daughter recognized the drawings instantly, so 1 vote from the childrens section too! The girl knows her stuff, knows not to touch at car shows and points out finger prints on chrome.

I'm almost finished with the red XA, then the Landau and maybe the MACK will come along...sometime. They're starting to take longer because of details I don't remember, like I do drawing the BoB all the time, so I have to pause on the movie to get it right.

One of my favorite shots from the movie is the Doc "turning right to go left" shot with his red wheels, Dirt Track Racer tires and the dust cloud going to the right...make a cool poster.

CHASE: You're bringing her up right then...teach her Falcon's rule, "Coma"dore's drool, yet?

Hi Smegma

I'm in the final stages of writing ... God I hope so anyway ... a book on Cars and Car Culture in Australian Film.

I'd love to pick your brain on working on the build of the cars from MM2 .

If you're into it can you email me on peterm @ aftrs.edu.au (remove the spaces)

Cheers
