Mad Max Roleplaying

Post by Tycho »

Has anyone got any desire to do some Mad Max roleplay or the like? Over at the Beyond Thunderdome forums there are already a few threads running where people can write their own post apocalyptic characters and get involved in whatever wasteland related adventures they see fit. At the moment theres only two threads running but it would be up to anyone interested create their own adventures and invite their friends along to play with them.

You can find the rudimentary beginnings of this idea over at http://thunderdome.proboards13.com/index.cgi?board=cafe (click on link to proceed)

It's just an idea and I dont endeavour to be any kind of leader of anyone that wants to take part in my own or their own storylines. So if anyone has experience roleplaying and wants to get involved, or just wants to take a look, head over now.

I love roleplaying. Thing is, I couldn't play one that was based on Beyond Thunderdome Image; I'd be murdering small children and not taking it seriously before you could say 'ten-sided die'. This however, though a simple gamebook, is blatantly based on Mad Max 1 + 2 and it's so good i never get tired of reading it:

Here's the story(if you don't know it):

Good idea though

Well, this is TOTALLY refreshing!!!!

I have not played "Freeway Fighter"..... but, throughout my roleplaying history (gave it up a decade or two ago, and started again in the last few years), I have played MANY games that aproximate the "MAD MAX" feel.

The best "Post Poky-clips (sorry for the BTD refence)" game I have played so far is "AFTERMATH" which I believe was published by "Judges Guild" (could be wrong there), after MM2 but before BTD (you see my point here).

For Accurate "RoadWars" rules that keep it real and in perspective (to a degree that is fun) I prefer "CAR WARS" (I think a Steve Jackson Publication), the vehicles are a bit heavy on the weaponry and armor, and the roleplay a bit short on "Out of Car" adventure, but MIX THE TWO........

NOW that is the true "Mad Max Game", at least it was under a skilful G.M.

Gamma World is pretty fun too, but ya' gotta be able to tolorate mutants in your "Pox-E-Clipse-Tik" world to enjoy that one.

I played Shadowrun a lot, but we ended up modifying it so much (taking out the magic (magic and guns, I mean really..) and most of the metahumans.. Got rid of all those horrible cars with no proper corners or windscreens and the stupid combat rules were changed too), that 'Shadowrun' just became a name for an entirely different game in the end. it was much fun, I made sure there was a lot of vehicle combat Image
