What I meant in reference to the weight difference is, the SVO stang is lighter than the t-bird. The t-bird was a pretty heavy car and the fiberglass hood they used was actually heavier than the stock steel by about 20lbs and then you throw in the grounds efx, heavier struts (Electronic ride control, which btw was awesome till you had to replace the stuff). Also, if memory serves me right the fiberglass weight on the GT's vs the LX was quite a bit, factory fiberglass always seemed to be so heavy and bulky.
Man I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a Merc capri on the road, much less somethig that turned your head without laughing. I loved the body styling of those things, the fender flares, horizontal grill and tail lights. I used to be the proud owner of an '81 and '84 RS Capri's. One, I shoe-horned with a well stroked 351c that would just tear the pavement at launch. Ah the days of having no responsibilities and no bills others other than the car, heh why do we have to grow up ??

Er... Why would the SVO be a lighter Body?
I believe the hoods are Fiberglass but the rest of the car is the same as a 4 cylinder 'Stang.
Main difference in the weight between an SVO & the GT is the 4 cylinder vs V-8.
Got my eye on a 4 cylinder 85 Capri.
Need a bit more info on doing the Swap, but If I ewere to get this one, I'd swap a lower milage Merkur XR4Ti motor. (Same thing as SVO Mustang except Valve cover)
Come join me and my evil brothers at http://www.foureyedpride.com Couple of us are Mad Max fans.
The Coupe is the lighest of them all. I have two of them.
And the SVO is all steel. It'd been nice to have fiberglass parts but the cost of the car was already rather high.

Yeah, i think i noticed the front wheel drive, i know its sounds funny, but kind looks like in DARK HALF, that its being 'pulled' not pushed, cause you get a real good look at it, GEORGE STARK throws it around hard, looks heavy too.

I my opion this is the best use of a Toronado drivetrain http://www.geocities.com/chevadoracing/
But then I'm more than a little biased my second choice would be John Smyser's Terrifying Tornado Always put on a much better show than the Hairy Olds.
Which end does the motor go in anyhow
