Grand Theft Auto XBGT Hardtop O_O

Post by Augh »

Hi people ^_^

I've been making a Falcon model for Grand Theft Auto for the last couple months, as I learn to 3d model, and have just released the first incarnation of the mesh, a 1973 XB GT, the mod can be found at --> http://www.burst-transmission.com/index.html

I thought I'd drop a note in here since the entire reason for building this GT, is so I have a basis for... dunn dunn dunn... a black on black Pursuit Special for GTA o_O And since I've been approaching this from the sortof perspective that you create a real life car model, I hoped this forum would be ok, rather than the gaming forum ;)

This site and the lastinterceptor.com site have been especially helpful as I constantly scout for further visual references, so thanks very much anyone reading who would be responsible somehow there ;)

Thanks all you guys in the Max fan kingdom for all the references, esoteric knowledge and random stuff I've found surfing about ^_^

Err ok, never used this forum before, so I hope all them links etc work alright o_O

Ed: Yeah, they didn't ;) *clears up tags* Follow the link for piccy etc ;)

Hehe that GT is rolling in VC right now ;) That shot is taken in a total conversion called GTA:LC, it's Liberty running under the VC engine basically, thus the confusing city location. Check the link for more info (don't wanna like advertise too much heh). Working on the black on black as we speak ^_^

So much fun to build the fittings for this thing, muhaha.

All those fan replica pics coming in very useful too ^_^

Edit: This sucker should be available for your enjoyment within days... been workin' some;

Since this is a GTA car, and the game has damage functions, I'm setting it up so that when you smash the front end, it basically ends up looking like the first time you see it in Road Warrior. Possibly I'll go with the fully smashed front end in a future version ;)

Thanks a lot man :) Hehe I love this car so much, I just *had* to try and do it justice... the other one I think is converted from need for spooge, and it kinda is waaaaay inaccurate...

If you hit the downloads area on a reputable gta site (haha this is possibly a sliding scale ;) ), try to get ahold of "IMG Tool", it's not widely advertised as it's really low frills, basically that's exactly what ya want, as little stuff to go wrong as possible. I'd advise steering clear of 'VCM' mod manager, it borks up people's games and a lot of the time the mods are badly packaged. So like, it seems solid enough in of itself, but using VCM to install stuff can cause problems elsewhere in the game, best to avoid that generally speakin. Oh yeah, you should google for "dmagic1's wheelmod", which is the mod that allows custom wheels on cars (most mods use it, mine do).

I'll be sure to notify the forum when the Interceptor is put on general release, soon I hope ;)

Don't know how old this post is but im a huge fan of xbgt's used to own a 351 xb coupe (sadly not an originall GT" and have built a fully realistic 3d model in imaculate detail in and old version of strata 3d, im talking a LOT of polygons. I love making 3d models and have recently stumbled across 3d modifiers for GTA, 1 of my fav games. I am about to construct a series of older ford falcons for the game including a couple of classic commodors (VK group A, VL Walkinshaw, VS SS and so on) even though im more of a FORD boy. My query is your lonk to your model doesn't seem to work for me and I would really apreciate a copy to see your work, would gladly trade some of mine.
