Karol,
You see my helmet info on the costume thread? As far as this year, I'm gonna have to pass. Burning Man too. (I have bittersweet memories of BM2001. Right before 9/11.) Uncle Sam has other travel plans for me this year, and who am I to say no?
But I'd like to go maybe next year, assuming something goes on. Also partial to a more central location also. Texas/Oklahoma/Kansas...?
Maybe by that time I'll have a couple decent MFP cars to go with the Mach 1 and JGS Falcon. God help us if I bring out the Impala twins...

The thoughts of this event are killing Me. But why do I have to be on the other side of the continent?
What ever you do Karol, get Bill Brown there. I can attest he is the life of the party and a definite asset to any event. He is most gracious at sharing his experiences and allowing people to see a true Interceptor. His creativity and ingenuity are not easily duplicated.
On a side note...as part tribute to our Max brethern Evan and I set up the projector and watched MM1 at our yearly excursion this year. Its great to watch MM1 as intended....on a screen that was actually the side of a barn.
To those about to rock....we salute you.

All those who are planning on showing up to Roadwar 101, or to the car show/lunch afterwards, e-mail me with a quick intro and a pic of yourself and/or your vehicle. I am putting together a webpage for all of us who are planning on being there.

Im trying to find out if I can attend or not. As it is I may have to be at a conferenceI thats ending the day of the roadwar. Im trying to see if I could possible only attend the first day, that way id be able to make it.
As it is my 65 mustang interceptor is far from being finnished, I just dont have the time for it. Id have to take my ratty black primered 53 plymouth instead.

Suede, thanks for trying to make it. Let me know how it goes.
Anklecracker, thanks for the salute. Bill Brown is scheduled to come, maybe even with 2 Falcons.
Karen, Mitch, PusuitSpecial, Bealewolf: I would appreciate it if you would let me know soon if you are planning on attending or not. There is no RSVP date, and you can show up at the last minute for all I care, but I was hoping to get you all on a "look who's coming" webpage that I am putting together this week.
By the way, if you're still on the fence about coming, I will be getting a SEMI-TRUCK for the drive. So get planning!

I don't know Karol, it doesn't look good for me. Maybe a different time. I took way too much time off before my knee surgery. I would probably say at this time no. But thanks for telling me about the event. karen

Karol,
Any plans to spawn this event in South Florida? We are car crazy too, and it would go over big I think, but not like Cali. Just a thought.....

Futz,
Maybe we should wait until your next hurricane, and then drive amongst the carnage...
If you want to host it, I can help. How about Roadwar Alligator Alley?

Karol, this sounds like the start of a good event,but... what if next year, you expand it to a weekend camping event with a simple "gimic" road rally and maybe not set it up in an urban enviroment. Perhaps somewhere along the border of New Mexico or Texas (Big Bend region looks just like the Road Warrior set) and fewer hassles with "The Man" (aka the Bronze) and less people on the road to interfere and much more desolate! Gimic Rallies are not car races but do lend themselves better to the "feeling" that I think your after. Each participant would have to go over a certain road course and past various checkpoints to receive the next set of directions to the next checkpoint. At each checkpoint you could have them answer Mad Max trivia questions to get the directions and so on. Also a gimic rally is done at or below the speed limit so no troubles with the cops. Also there are plenty of camping places and you could probably arrange for a small showing of the movies at the campground at night to top the weekend off. You could even set up awards for various things like "Best/worst dressed character" or "Best apocolyptic camp" and "Best Mad Max inspired car" and so on.
I would love to come to this year's event but for just a one day event, all the way on the west coast...that's a little far away for to short a time.
Cheers and good luck!
