YOUR FIRST CAR.
I'm not exactly sure, i know i like the 70' SS NOVA, its mean looking, but theres another model, not sure of the year, but its popular, appears in alot of movies, - that VIN DIESEL knob is seen driving one after the credits of FAST AND FURIOUS, and theres one in THE FACULTY, and also i think DAZED AND CONFUSED, its more stream lined and usually has racing stripes down the trunk. maybe its a '76. Dunno.

I think the car at the end of The Fast and Furious was a Chevelle...
And i'm certain Dazed and Confused had a Chevelle as well. Thats a nice movie...

"Not an attack against you guys, but thats what really pissed us off about you yanks, nothing existed outside of your country, you couldn't imagine, that any car outside of AMERICA, could be as hot as what you got. I know you had no movies to tell you what was what, like we did, though you did have the MAD MAX's, and though all of the cars were debadged, MAX's yellow INTERCEPTOR, if you look real close still has its FALCON, badge in the front grill, and look on the NIGHTRIDERS dash board, clearly says MONARO."
The assumption probably was that you guys, car-wise, had more in common with England than the US.
We've always had a thing for European sports cars and fast sedans though.
larger than life and twice as ugly

Hey, Bronze....
5. 1969 Mark Donahue Special AMC Javelin SST 401
The first year for the AMC 401 was 1971
The '70 390 was AMC's hottest motor, though.
Top... Three favorites
#1. '71 - '74 AMC Javlins.
#2. Aussie Falcon XA - XC Coupes.
#3. '70 - '74 Dodge Challenger (Preferably R/T)

Learn something new everyday...Thanks. I went to the "Orphan" (Parent company no longer exists) carshow here in Michigan a couple of months ago and saw the car...must have done an engine swap (by the number on the air cleaner)...looked mean though...sounded nice too. So what was stock for 69...a 360?

I'm not as familliar with the older ("Generation 0ne") Javelins, as mine is a '73.
The largest and most powerful of the V-8s available was the 390.
Actual Horsepower & Torque ratings elude me for the moment, but I remember that they had options of either 11 to 1 compression ratio or 12 to 1.
(So much for unleaded!)
Along with some VERY aggressive Dealer installed options such as the Cross Ram intakew manifold and various cam options, these could be quite fun.
Engines for the Gen 2 Javs (and other AMC cars) was a straight six (Displacement unknown, but who cares)
A 304, 360 (what mine has) and the 401.
Emission controls and federally mandated fuel economy guidelines SEVERELY hampered performance in these engines.
Each year getting less and less available power.
The hottest 401 would be the 1971, but any AMC V-8 can be built up. (I believe they still made Jeeps with the 360 & 401 all the way up to '78, but again, I like the Javelins, so after they were gone, I had no interest..

IN DEFENSE OF AMERICA...
Guys: Apparently, US car companies elected to market certain cars in certain countries, while withholding them from the US. For us Americans, until we found out that Max's car was in fact a Ford Falcon, (through this wonderful site), the only Falcons we knew of were rather geeky looking. I venture to say, Ford could have increased its American bottom-line substantially if they had marketed the '70s era Max-style Falcons in the US. Does anyone know why they didn't?

Yeah, the Falcon we know of is related to the Mustang
And its not really geeky...bland...a little.
