According to what I can gather from the text, it's one of 400 built and it's been fully restored (I think). It has holley carbs and an electric fuel pump (must be where the money was spent)and it was professionally valued at 65000 euros.
Seems a little odd to me.

looks like a plain Jane XC Coupe to me, with some hideous bonnet scoop and flash wheels. You could buy one of these in any local tyre-kickers yard for less than AUS$10,000. 1 of 400 built ?? and build date of 1968 ?? i think not - didn't XC Falcons get built up to late '78 ? this would seem a more believable build date. The cost of the Holley and 'lectric pump would be less than 6 or 700 hundred bucks.
this is why I avoid cars like the plague. Too much garbage gets passed up as treasure. It just ain't so. Anything that was a '1-in-400' car MUST have some sort of build number stamped on a plaque, or noted on compliance plate or something??
The only Aussie ford worth spending more than $50K on is the XY GTHO Phase 3, standard condition. A good one of these can go for upwards of $70K these days. Happy bidding

i hope that asshole didn't mean it was one of the 400 XC Cobras if its indeed a legit Cobra which i doubt very seriously the owner needs to be made into one of Wez's bitches!!!

I hate to tell you blokes this,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but it is an XB body shell not a XC !!
so that would give it fark awl chance of it being one of the cobras.
just for reference for ya's
xc was built from august 76 til march 79. The last of them were known as xc updates, and the used bitsleft over from the xb era, some scored a 4v engine , some got a 9" diff, some got fmx boxes. etc.
Oh and as for the id tag as you mentioned , 1 of 400, they had a umbered plate on the glovebox and if you remove the glovebox it is also stamped on the firewall from the inside as well and that was only for the cobras

Amazing....
Yep its an XB, well it looks XB, In fact the vertical rear indicator lens in the rear quarter means that the quarters are XB.
Entire front end is also XB, well the bumper, grill, and the lack of horizontal indicator lens in the front guard all says XB.
So lets go with its an XB. The 1968 could be a typo I suppose, but I would think that it is kind of important to get the date right if you are selling an Aussie Icon car for 70,000 AUD.
But if the tag is really 1978 it is either an ID swap or its an XC rebuilt into an XB right down to the rear quarters being replaced!
I think not.
Nice low kilometers for even a 1974 car ! Some one might have being giving free "haircuts" either pre - or post shipping.
Everything else is suspect so why not make the distance traveled suspect as well.
Anyhow.. ha ha I shudder every time I cut the rear quarter's to make an accurate replica, ( You know the feeling Adrian) imagine drilling holes into that clean roof to fit that incorrect thing!
Well at least it is a good base car now ... if nothing else.
So its not an Interceptor replica, not an XC, not a Cobra, not 1968, not 12,000 in either Km or miles. Apart from that she is an honest unit!
Ha ha L.O.L. No bids yet.... what are you guys waiting for!
Well it does have a holley, Hmmm.. a 350 2V ? or a 850 double pumper?
Actually I priced an 850 double pumper yesterday (for the big block replica) $1275 AUD for a new unit. I passed and went for the "Barry Grant" instead.
About the same price, choke machined off, 4 corner idle, if you gota have a carbie the "Barry Grant" seems the business. And holley gaskets fit!
I hope the dyno agrees with this choice.
Cheers
Gordon.
Hey XA man you should try and hop a fight over here again... see this Japan thing ... what a weapon![/font]

As an XB, and one of 400, could it not also be a superbird? Either way, what's been done to it is a travisty. And considering the other suspect details, the 1 of 400 is just as dubious.

Hey Gordon ... sadly not much chance of getting over at the moment ... although if I was half the max fan I profess to be I'd walk across the Nullabour for a run in the thing!
I will be coming over for a doco conference in Freemantle early next yaer ... see if they'll put off picking it up till then ...
The photo's on Peters site look fantastic ... how far from completion?
I was watching 'The FJ Holden' over the weekend and noticed that when the FJ is hotted up he fits a Maxrob wheel ... different to the MM wheel in that it has rectangular holes but the same hub ...now there's some useless information

Superbirds never made it to australia, and that most definately is an aussie made hardtop mate. In my eyes it is a xb and without popping the hood or quoting me engine number i would run with it being a 351 2v with a fmx at best........... and for gods sake someone tell him to remove that stinking spoiler and put it back where it belongs on the boot.
