Has to be Road Warrior. This is the one that turned me on to Max back in '82. I've grown to love MM1 more each time I watch it, and 3 has its good points, but 2 is the one.

You dare to ask this question here - GERMAN? your gonna start some major sh*t doing that, don't expect many single 'i just like the first one' comments...

MAD MAX the first one is the greatest film ever made, but MAD MAX 2 is my absolute favourite. its flawless, it set standards, and is still being ripped off even today. Ask any average man on the street (a non MAD MAX fanatic), and he'll tell you ROAD WARRIOR is the one that stands out the most in his mind.

It's a close call between MMI & MMII. But I'd have to go with MMII. Funny, how those villians steal the movie. Bubba and Wez are my fave villians. Wez just explodes on the big screen. Veron Wells did an awesome job bringing this character to life. I even like it that they didn't give Wez the usual bimbo chick riding on the back. I think it's cool they went with a blond pretty boy.

MMII was the first film to truly break that stereotype action films are known for. You got a questionable hero. Is Max or isnt' he a hero? You got bad ass villains who are brutally wicked and with no remore, yet one has a b/f. They're dressed like leather night at a gay bar. And you got Warrior Woman, a big mean woman fighting with the boys.

MMII set the stage for action movies to come.

I absolutely loved the idea of Sadistic 'gay' badguys, in the first two MAD MAX's. thats one of the reasons they stand out so much. The 70's and 80's were full of bimbo having bad guys, and MILLER say's 'well, hey, what would you be more scared of- a hetero killer chasing you, or a gay one? i know what i'd choose.

And thats one of the reasons i hated THUNDERDOME so much, commercialism, gave way to those 'straight' chracters again. aside from a woman ruling over badguys (i like that idea) all the badguys blended in with the bad guys of the time, the 80's kicked in, and everything became 'mucho' and stereotypical, along with movie's starting the 'one liner's and sh*t, which THUNDERDOME loves.

I think that MM1 is the best, has anything ever bettered the car chase at the start with Big Bopper,Marche Hare and Max in hot pursuit of the Nightrider? and more importantly of all its where it all began!!!!
Pray hes out there!!

that chase scene is without a doubt the best car chase in any Aussie movie. And your point that 'this is where it all began' is absolutely lost on all the johnny-come-latelys. Take a bow, you have hit the nail on the head.Image

I have always said MAD MAX is the best movie made, its just that MAX 2 is my fave, for personal reasons.

I pity those poor fools out there who still think ROAD WARRIOR was the beginning of the series, they're sure missing out.
