It looks like if you live in Australia you can only get Mad Max toys/models through mail order.

Yeah, models yeah, but we got all the ROAD WARRIOR figures, and when N2 were still around, all my local comic and model shops were already taking orders for the 12 inches and that.

N2 toys is now Toycom/Mirage, so we'll see what happens there. According to Ron Hayes, formerly of N2 Toys, now of Mirage, don't expect to see the Interceptor or the 12" figures soon, if at all. Slot car set is a dead issue due to lack of retailer interest.

Could be somebody else bigger picked up the MM4 master license, but everything's pretty quiet concerning this movie.

SLOT CAR SET - no retail interest my arse, when i first baught a toy mag in 2001 (check out which mag in the MAGAZINES SECTION of the FAQ for the one) i took it with me to the model shop here in hobart to show a guy i knew who worked there, and every customer in there, had a peek too and they went off, they were asking where they can get one, and when, and then they wanted to know where i got the mag, so they could buy it and show mates and sh*t.

trust me, its not just us die hard fans that want it, even the passieve "yeah its a cool movie" types want to see it.

Yeah, I know, but it's the buyers for the retail stores that decide what gets bought for the shelves. Having worked in the toy industry, I saw many dog and pony shows put on for the Kmart, Wal Mart, ToysRUs ,etc. retail buyers in an effort to sell them on our products. Sometimes they're in touch with the public, sometimes not.

No predicting what's gonna hit it big. Tickle Me Elmo? Who would've guessed it? Hot licensing properties get a green light, since you have a captive tie-in consumer base, and free advertising. Can't go wrong, unless the movie sux (read: Battlefield Earth).

I'm hoping MM4 gets medium exposure, just enough attention to justify some licensing, but no forced blockbuster hype. Think 'Independence Day ID4' vs. 'Star Wars' in scope.

OK, just got the word from an online toy collector source that there was no Mad Max: Fury Road merchandise at the NY Toy Fair. However, Randy of Action Figure Times (the source), is a Mad Max fan and asked around. He said tha N2 toys probably wouldn't be doing any Mad Max stuff, but that other companies he had talked to had shown some interest. Also put a bug in the ear of Ertl/Racing Champs to do some 1/16 and 1/64 scale licensed vehicles. In his words, "Why there is no 'Hot Wheels' - sized V-8 Interceptor boggles the mind."

Playing Mantis would be another good contender for vehicles. Biante is actively pursuing the MM1 and MM2 Interceptor rights. They do a damn fine job on the Falcon diecasts, so they're a natural for the Interceptor.

Plenty of niche market action figure manufacturers out there now. It's a golden age for toy collectors; almost a glut of product. You can get anything you want these days. I would be VERY surprised if somebody doesn't pick up the Mad Max licenses and puts out some awesome stuff.

Toys. They're not just for kids anymore...

Anybody wants the verbatim e-mail of what Randy sent me, e-mail and I'll forward. Already fwd to Peter, so maybe he'll post?
