1/6 movie poster figure

Post by Switchum »

Hey how you all doing? I have been doing horrible since I posted last sculpting thread. Bunch of unfortunate events happened to me; my mother was killed in a house fire and I got hit and ran while riding a motorcycle, broke bunch of bones, left with piles of medical bills. I was nearly killed, laid up for 2 months and lost my day job because of it. The only slightly decent event was to getting commissioned to sculpt this movie poster figure by the same company that commissioned me to sculpt Wez, Humongous, and Furiosa.
Yeah this one.

I will be journaling the progress here. I would appreciate any feedback.

You've really been through the wringer, I'm so sorry.

Seeing your previous sculpts come together always made me happy, I look forward to seeing how you do with this one, and can imagine making a single 2D painting into three dimensions will be quite a challenge

Thanks Turbofurball. Yeah me too. Now I am fighting to keep my middle finger that severy infected. I got picc line attached and pumping antibiotics everyday. I can't seems to get out of the woods.

I have knack for making 2D characters into 3D without getting look too weird. My very first sculpting jobs were making cartoon characters and I believe I did okay on them. Although it will not look exactly like the poster, I am hoping this will come out decent.

Kind of skinny but you look back up with the leather and armours on. Size comparison with the Jim Goose kit

Thanks Eldiabro78
Finally antibiotics' side effect is kicking my butt. I was severely weak; could not do anything for whole week but my finger started to feel and look okay.
The more I look at this illustration, the more I get confused. You can tell this poster was drawn by a guy who just saw a few still shots from the film or just saw the movie once.... I just want this figure to look good; I will have to change some parts.

Sorry I was scarce. I had PICC line in to fight infection and it often got me very ill. But managed to spent quite bit of time on this since then. Very close to be done...

Since the only reference was the illustrated poster, there's a lot of places that wouldn't make much sense in 3D.
I tried my best to be accurate to the poster. Even try to emulate the 70's illustration style to this figure.
I hate making bases but they wanted it so kinda pulled it out of my ass.

Let me know what you guys think.
Also here's my broken clavicle I put smily face on it like a tumor on Nux
Hahahaha

That's looking great - I think you're filling in the blanks very well and it's coming out looking like a well-rounded figure!

I fricken hate antibiotics, I had serious ones about 10 years back and the long term side effects suck. Still, I'm glad to hear you're pointed in the right direction now :)

Thanks, Turbofurball appreciate the compliment.

Spent a few days cleaning it up, and detailing more and finished it today.

Took too many hours  than I wanted to spend on, but I think it came out okay. So far the client is happy so when I get final approval, I can ship the sculpt to Japan.

The sculpt is about 35.5cm tall without the base. He is cut up to 13 parts for easier molding. I am gonna ask 2 copies for myself but not sure if I bulid one...

Yeah antibiotics continue to suck. I am still taking pills.

Thanks for looking!!
