Accidents in Mad Max

Very recently I got my hands on an interview with George Miller, a very early interview in which he talked about the inspirations for the very first Mad Max.

Now, it's not a surprise that Miller drew inspiration for the movie from his work in the Casualty Ward in a hospital and when he was driving out to attend accidents in rural Queensland.

But what was really surprising to me was that some of the stories he heard from the locals and the stuff he saw with his own eyes actually ended up in the first Mad Max!
He specifically said that there was a history of some guy in rural Queensland that got his hand ripped off by a chain. And another guy that went on a head-on collision with a semi.

Something tells me that the story Goose tells at breakfast might have happened for real as well.

And just to think that somewhere out there was a guy who inspired Cundalini's accident and another one that inspired Toecutter's demise is pretty freaky if you think about it.

So, Mad Max is in fact more of a documentary rather than a story of post apocalyptic fiction
