Mad Max Contemporary Rescoring
Thursday November 9 2017

See the original 1979 movie with a thumping new score composed by three Conservatorium students

George Miller's original Mad Max launched his career (and Mel Gibson's) with a bang, and the film's apocalyptic action sequences still hold up after all these years.

In an attempt to breathe some new life into the 1979 Ozploitation masterpiece, three students at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music – Emilia Bonic, Rob Campbell and Brittany Sheahan – have composed a thumping new electronic score, replacing the original orchestral music by late Australian composer Brian May.

The results will screen for free for one night only at Chippendale venue Something for Jess. And we have a feeling it's going to be quite something.

Fun fact: Hugh Keays-Byrne, who plays the film's main villain the Toecutter, also played the big villain in 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road. He's all of 70 years old now.

If you're going along, let them know via the Facebook link so they have an idea of numbers.
