*sigh*
Did we miss the actual apocalypse? Because going by Syfy's average quality level, we must already be in Hell. "Fuelled by blood"? That's the best 'twist' they can come up with for an obvious rip-off of Death Race in order to cash in on Fury Road?
I would suspect that the short story, 'Vampire LTD' in the anthology book "Car Sinister" was the first example of a car running on blood. Supposedly the story was written in 60's. Also, it was used as the basis for a Czech movie in the early 80's.

i agree on the blood car thing.BRC1974 wrote:Well the film Wyrmwood had a car fueled on zombie breath.AquaCola wrote:Cars fuelled on blood?
Ehhh that is absolutely retarded.
i dont remember the short for wyrmwood having cars run on zombie breath though. i REALLY liked the short movie , but was fairly disappointed with the actual film. a lot of stuff from the movie was a different tone from the short (and pretty much the stuff i didnt like)
Re: Syfy spin off
Isn't the whole faux grindhouse, 'corny on purpose' thing a little overplayed at this point?
Yeah we get it, old Z-movies have their charm because they're bad, that's why some of us watched them (I love me some MST3k let me tell you)
But those movies weren't made bad on purpose, so to try and recreate this whole thing through nostalgia glasses misses the point completely and dare I say - it makes it look very pretentious and 'nerdy hipsterish' if you know what I mean.
Unless you want to perceive it completely as a mindless thing you watch for fun then I guess it's fine but still it doesn't register with me on any meaningful level at all.

Yeah, it's all been a little too "intentionally ironic". The whole point of loving the old exploitation films was that one in a million of them punched above their weight, and a whole lot more inspired popular mainstream movies.
