Arbitrarily using a supercharger?
Arbitrarily using a supercharger?
I am a huge fan of the movies… Don't get me wrong. The one thing that has always bothered me is hauling ass down the highway then suddenly throwing on a supercharger adding 10 to 15 pounds of boost? The moment you did that you would throw a rod right through your oil pan. I know how superchargers work, so I question: is this possible?

A subject which has been done adnauseum....
Sadly those thinking it can be done will no doubt post about MR2s... or other Euro cars.. all of which run a centrifugal blower.
Bluebanjo you answered your question somewhat.... and to cut a long story short. No. it cant be done with a roots blower set up as per movie on an engine like the 351.
The biggest hurdle is turning it on and off, which people will again no doubt say.. hey use a AC clutch.

Don't forget about the second clutch that would need to be inside the drive cover. Sort of a tight fit with those 2 drive gears in there.

Funny part about blower are when just driving down the road there not making any boost until you step into it. So its kinda like its off anyway until you need it. lol Owned 2000 lightning, 20008 GT500. Fun cars.

Found this video. People in the comment section talking about how easy it is to make switchable blower

Also the comments are pretty vile sometimes. Guy owns a pretty nice replica but gets nothing but hate, personal attacks and other shenanigans.
