Come to think of it, I'm with you guys. I think he won't be doing them anymore if it means going through the same development hell Fury Road had been through.

At least that's what I'm hoping he means. He'll elaborate on that soon enough because this news is making rounds already.

The whole thing smells fishy to me.

I highly doubt Miller said this, it simply doesn't sounds like him.

'those Mad Maxes'... ahh, come on

The problem with the internet is that could have been a random youtube comment or reddit post with no source but as soon as the click bait news sites see it they are going to spam it across every social media site they can.

Already happened. George Miller is now trending.

The benefit from this though means George can clarify himself exactly what was said, if anything, or meant.

At Friday's Q&A he seemed pretty gung-ho about doing another one.

Yeah a lot of his talks last week had him interested in more, albeit wanting to do a smaller simpler film first.

I hope you guys are right, the idea of Miller not doing another MAD MAX is extremely upsetting to me.

Is there a source to this quote?

It doesn't even sound like him. "Mad Maxes"? I don't think he's ever said that before.

Horn: For people who want more "Mad Max" movies, what are the odds and, if so, when?

If I get to do a smaller, quicker movie, that’ll be next. But there are definitely two ["Mad Max"] stories that we have.

Horn: For two different movies?

Yes. We’ll see if the planets align to get those made.

Kyle Buchanan: And is it true that Furiosa would only be minimally included in those stories, or would you be willing to make a big Furiosa movie?

If I say anything, I’ll get myself in knots, and I’ll give away spoilers. I’ve found the best thing is not to say anything!

Every filmmaker, after they finish a particularly big film, wants to do — in terms of “My Dinner With Andre” — a little personal film which you can shoot very quickly ... to do something that’s intimate and relatively quick, without big expensive stunts, and a long time in the cutting room with masses of footage.

As well as the majority public's perception hasn't really changed of him of being a drunk, angry, racist, anti-semite bigot. ...
But isn't that perception part of the war between Mel and a new york/hollywood media monopoly.

He gets drunk sometimes, he gets angry sometimes, he said something about Jews that was less then flattery.
But are any of those things all that outrageous or unusual without the new york/hollywood media inflating them 1000 times to smear and label him.

But I agree, they're also not going to be doing him any favors anytime soon either.
Thats just the way it is isn't it.
And being honest is important.

But the thing about that is with a lot of the props and techniques and the new worldspace worked out through fury road, it should be half the chore to redress the props and cars and he knows the modern camera tricks he needs.

It should be half the cost and half the effort.
He could spend a little more time on a plot.
:)

Wrath of Kahn was half the cost of TMP,
they just redressed the props and reused the models, and the effects and everything were already worked out if the last one. Miller could even jettison that trendy 3d jibber jabber and maybe even not hire a bunch of supermodels and famous actors.
