As well as the majority public's perception hasn't really changed of him of being a drunk, angry, racist, anti-semite bigot. ...

But isn't that perception part of the war between Mel and a new york/hollywood media monopoly.

He gets drunk sometimes, he gets angry sometimes, he said something about Jews that was less then flattery.
But are any of those things all that outrageous or unusual without the new york/hollywood media inflating them 1000 times to smear and label him.

But I agree, they're also not going to be doing him any favors anytime soon either.

But the thing about that is with a lot of the props and techniques and the new worldspace worked out through fury road, it should be half the chore to redress the props and cars and he knows the modern camera tricks he needs.

It should be half the cost and half the effort.
He could spend a little more time on a plot.


Wrath of Kahn was half the cost of TMP,
they just redressed the props and reused the models, and the effects and everything were already worked out if the last one. Miller could even jettison that trendy 3d jibber jabber and maybe even not hire a bunch of supermodels and famous actors.
