Buy a brand new Pursuit special from Ford Oz

I woke up with a migraine ... I have some massive carbukle style thing growing out of my left elbow that even the slightest bump sends shockwaves seering through my body ... I'm mildly agrophobic ... so I took my son to the Sydney Motor Show.

By way of gratitude he has taken to openly refering to me as 'the Gimp' ...

What was I thinking ... but after enduring an hour of the stupid jostling mongrels laughingly refered to as the general public ... excluding any members of the board who I may have 'bumped into' today ... I saw something that made it all worthwhile. Tickford or whatever their current preffered acronyn is this year (FTO?)now lable their hotrods as PURSUIT ... I want a yellow one ... with Blue White and Red striipes ... please ... awe common Santa ....

Im almost certain that Prodrive have taken over from Tickford and that the name Tickford and FTE will soon disappear.

I think the Pursuit special is the cab-chassis ute only. I havent seen the sedans referred to as Pursuits.

Just wait a year and buy an ex highway patrol XR8.

It was a ute ... an orange ute!

Sadly I don't have pics ... I did get a brochure but my son took it with him to his mothers house so I won't see him or it for two weeks. I'll scan and post then if no other pics turn up.

It's just fantastic to see a new ford ... any new ford ... OK not a Barina ... proudly badged PURSUIT!

Tickford have been taken over by UK outfit prodrive who are apparently responsible for some pretty hot rally and street cars from Ford and Subaru (Europe)

The latest name is for tickford is Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV). From what I remember they have just come out with the 2003 reincarnation of the GT Falcon sedan. From early 03 this will be sold as a mainstream model with 290Kw of power (about 388bhp). I think the 5.4 litre V8 is a modified version from an American truck.l I know it runs DOHC and varible valve timing.

I think the equivalent Ute model is called a 'Pursuit'. I have no idea how much power it has.

You are right

Prodrive are based over here and are responsible for some really nice Subaru WRC rally cars and some powerful road cars too.

I think Dave Richards who runs one of the Formula One teams is the boss of Prodrive

On Prodrive's web site it lists the directors and one is John Thurston former chairman of Tickford and another is David Flint MD of Tickford

Just spend a little time at http://www.ford.com.au/home/home.asp (tell me if it works) and you can get more info... as far as i know the "Persuit" is only available with the Ford Falcon XR8 ute style body (one of my top 5 favorite cars of all time, next to a 70' HEMI Challenger) just thought you should know.

Yeah i have to agree, the au utes do look pretty mean. especially the xr8 versions.

I used to think 'how can the ute look so good, and the sedan so crap'...

But looking at the styling of the au now, i actually quite like it.

bold, different, striking.

I of course bagged the sh*t out it at the time...

the pursuit 250 has a hand built windsor block in it... droool...

i so much want to take the new GT 5.4 litre for a spin next year.
