The actor you speak of is Jonathan Iles..... and he is in fact an Aussie.
IMBD have recorded the wrong actor for the part of Ace.

Near the end, as Furiosa's lung is collapsing and Max is trying to help, Furiosa says something to Max. As many times as I've seen it, I can't figure out what she's saying. I read this section of the full dialogue, and I don't think the dialogue is accurate. It sounds like she says something like:
"Home....in the canyon.....home." Then she passes out. The full dialogue makes it sound like she's accusing Max of not getting them home, but that doesn't seem right. I could swear she said something about "in the canyon". Anybody have any insight??
John Iles as featured in the film is most definitely Australian and is NOT a professional actor.
He's a genuine soldier who was employed to be a stunt safety supervisor and security consultant and the production found his appearance and speech so interesting and manner so natural and unflappable he was given a speaking role. Besides being kick ass on screen he also patrolled the main actors accommodation areas at night with a security detail.
